Shuri is an underwater starfish enemy who first appears in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as a part of the "Submerged Seadogs" category, according to the game's credits. It has made a few other appearances since. Its name derives from a spinning weapon named a shuriken.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Shuri is a semi-common underwater enemy. It can only be defeated if Enguarde stabs it. There are two versions of Shuri in the game: the pink version waits for the Kongs to get close, then spins rapidly and swims forward quickly, while the orange version spins and goes forward whenever it spots the Kongs, bouncing off walls.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Shuri reappears within Donkey Kong Land 2. In the game, Shuri appear with a similar role as it did in Donkey Kong Country 2.

Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, there is only an orange species of Shuri which is rare as it now only appears in a few underwater levels. Shuri is bigger than in the original Donkey Kong Country 2, but its attack patterns remains the same otherwise.

Shuri also appears in DK: King of Swing and its sequel DK: Jungle Climber, where it attacks the same way as in Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2.
