DK Coins, also known as Cranky's Video Game Hero Coins, are a type of coin introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2. Their most recent appearance is in DK: Jungle Climber.

Donkey Kong Country 2

In Donkey Kong Country 2, there are forty DK Coins to be found (68 in the Game Boy Advance version). There is one DK coin in every level (except boss levels) that you must find to become #1 in Cranky's video game heroes. In the Lost World, Bonus Levels have DK Coins instead of Kremkoins.

Donkey Kong Land 2

DK Coins reappear in Donkey Kong Land 2, with the same purpose as in DKC2. Again, there are 40 DK Coins to be found.

Donkey Kong Country 3

In Donkey Kong Country 3, there are 41 DK Coins, each level has one DK Coin held by an enemy named Koin. He can be eliminated when he is hit by a Steel Keg. When a DK Coin has been collected in a level, a yellow pennant will appear on top of the Level Flag of that level on the world map. The last DK Coin is obtained after beating Baron K. Roolenstein in Knautilus. Once the Kong has found all the DK Coins, they can go over to Funky's Rentals and Funky will build them a Gyrocopter.

Donkey Kong Land III

DK Coins reappear in Donkey Kong Land III, which are once again guarded by Koin, except in Coral levels where the DK Coins are simply hidden. There are 42 DK Coins this time, and 6 of them must be obtained from Sheepy Shops by playing a memory game. In order to get into the Lost World, 35 DK Coins (the total amount possible at that point) must be collected, and in order to fight K. Rool for the last time in K. Rool's Last Stand, all 42 DK Coins (as well as 6 watches) must be collected.

Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, DK Coins appears in Mine Cart challenges as well as Bonus Stages such as Splish-Splash Salvage.

DK: King of Swing

In DK: King of Swing, there are three versions of the DK Coin. Regular golden DK Coins, medium-sized silver DK Coins and small bronze colored ones.

DK: Jungle Climber

In DK: Jungle Climber, each level has one DK Coin. They are collected to unlock some cheats.
