[edit] History

[edit] Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

The very name of Chunky Kong has been mentioned before his playable debut in Donkey Kong 64 - in Swanky Kong's Banana Bonanza of Donkey Kong Country 2, his name is mentioned as one of the options to the question, "What is the name of the Kong who owns the aeroplane?". Answering Chunky Kong is of course wrong, the actual answer being Funky Kong.

[edit] Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

Chunky makes another cameo appearance in Donkey Kong Country 3, in its Gameboy Advance remake. This time, he is actually seen, in one of Funky Kong's mini-games, where he has to be protected from Kremlings.

[edit] Donkey Kong 64

Donkey Kong 64 marked Chunky Kong's most definitive, playable, and notable appearances in the series. Early in said game he is kidnapped by the Kremling Krew and is imprisioned in the Frantic Factory. Lanky Kong eventually rescues him, allowing Chunky to be fully playable.

Chunky Kong has numerous attributes. He is the only one who can collect the green colored bananas scattered all over the island. He gains the Simian Slam ability, which allows him to press green buttons with his face on them, Super Simian Slam which allows activation of blue buttons, and Super Duper Simian Slam which does red buttons. He can use the Primate Punch to launch powerful punching attacks to damage enemies or break doors. "Hunky Chunky" makes him huge, allowing to defeat enemies, pick up large objects, and hit large switches. His next ability gained from Cranky is "Gorilla Gone", which makes him invisible. He also has a Pineapple Launcher, which damages enemies and activates switches. Candy Kong gives him a triangle which can defeat all enemies nearby among other things.

In Fungi Forest, Chunky Kong is used in the rematch again Dogadon, the end resulting in victory and the gaining of a key to K. Lumsy's cage. Also in the Forest he has to use a Mine Cart to ride into the well, collect some coins to gain a Golden Banana.

In the final boss battle against King Krusha K. Rool, Chunky is the last Kong to fight him. Chunky needs to utilize his Chunky Pad to turn invisible and see King K. Rool, who also has the ability to turn invisible. Chunky needs to use the Chunky Barrel to turn giant and launch K. Rool into the opposite wall, eventually defeating him.

[edit] "Donkey Kong in When the Banana Splits"

"Donkey Kong in When the Banana Splits" is Chunky's only comic-based appearance. Chunky helps his Kong friends recover the Golden Bananas, stolen by King K. Rool. He is first to attack Kremlings, which leads into a larger battle. They all win the battle and regain their Bananas.

[edit] Super Smash Bros. series

In Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, Chunky is mentioned in the DK Rap as per the lyrics. Also in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Chunky is a sticker which could only be used by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. He increases throwing attacks' power by 31.
