Neckies are large brown vultures that prowl the skies of Donkey Kong Island. They seem to be affiliated with the Kremling Krew.
History
Donkey Kong Country series
The first appearance of Neckies was in the game Donkey Kong Country; they were common enemies and reprized that role in the Game Boy sequel, Donkey Kong Land. Neckies will try to attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by flying into them, or by hitting them with coconuts. Neckies can be defeated by being jumping upon or hit by a barrel. Donkey Kong Country also features two Necky bosses named Master Necky and Master Necky Snr.
There is also a smaller subspecies of Neckies called Mini-Neckies. In Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land, they fire nuts at the player; in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2 they lose this ability and instead launch themselves at the player.
