When they see the Kongs, they start to move around in an attempt to chase the apes whenever they are anywhere near their rope. The barrels they live in explode on contact, making them a dangerous obstacle to the Kongs' quest.
Their name is a pun on "[[wiktionary:clasp|clasp]]", meaning to firmly hold on to something.

Klasps are red Kremlings that hide in a TNT Barrel and climb across horizontal ropes. They appear as enemies in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. They are similar to Kuchukas and Knockas, both of whom are also Kremlings hiding in a barrel in the same game. Klasps are the successor to Kabooms from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
