In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Banana Bunch Coins are found in various places in each level. They can be used to pay the offered service from the supporting members of the Kong Family: use of Funky Kong's Biplane Barrel at Funky's Flights, receive advice from Cranky Kong, save the game and get advice by paying Wrinkly Kong at Kong Kollege, and playing Swanky Kong's quizzes at Swanky's Bonus Bonanza. A total of 99 Banana Bunch Coins can be collected in the game.

In the Game Boy Advance version of the game, the player can pay ten Banana Coins to re-fight a defeated boss. Additionally, Wrinkly Kong no longer lets the player save their game, due to the new start menu.

Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, Banana Bunch Coins come in five different colors, and each of the five Kongs could only collect Banana Bunch Coins of their own color. The colors were yellow for Donkey Kong, red for Diddy Kong, blue for Lanky Kong, purple for Tiny Kong and green for Chunky Kong. Numerous Banana Bunch Coins were scattered throughout the levels of the game for the Kongs to seek out. The Kongs needed to use these coins to purchase equipment and upgrades from Cranky Kong, Funky Kong, and Candy Kong.

There were also special multi-colored Banana Bunch Coins called 5-Banana Coins that could only be found when a Kong unearthed a dirt pile with the shockwave attack learned from the Banana Fairy Princess. These coins were larger than regular Banana Bunch Coins, and they add five Banana Bunch Coins to each Kong's total, regardless of whether a certain Kong had been rescued or not.

Totals

The total amounts of Banana Bunch Coins each Kong collects are as follows:

  • Donkey: 179
  • Diddy: 183
  • Lanky: 190
  • Tiny: 198
  • Chunky: 224
  • Total: 974

During the game, each Kong spends 21 coins on personal upgrades, Donkey spends an extra 2 on the DK Arcade game, and a total of 53 coins are spent on shared upgrades. At the end of Donkey Kong 64, the completed Banana Bunch Coin total is 814.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

A Banana Bunch Coin appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a sticker. The sticker uses its artwork of Donkey Kong's yellow Banana Bunch Coins from Donkey Kong 64, and it increases the strength of leg attacks by four and the sticker can be used by any character.

Donkey Kong Country Returns / Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Banana Coins appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, where they can be used to buy various items in Cranky Kong's Shop. They are redesigned from the Banana Bunch Coins of previous games, as they have an image of a single banana on them; however, they mostly function the same.

Banana Coins are found at various locations in each level, and the Kongs can also collect them by jumping on at least three enemies in succession. They also appear as a prize on the Slot Machine Barrel.

The Kongs can collect up to 999 Banana Coins.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Banana Coins return in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. In this game, they have a similar appearance to Donkey Kong Country Returns, but they are colored golden instead of yellow and continually sparkle. Similarly to Donkey Kong Country Returns, they are used to buy items from Funky Kong's shop, and they can be obtained in many of the same ways. Like the previous game players can collect up to 999 Banana Coins.
