Donkey Kong Land 2
Kleever is a living sword and a high-ranked member of the Kremling Krew, being the second boss of both Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2 (where it is was renamed Kleaver). Kleever is a large sword with red, glowing eyes. Its guard is a Kremling skull, its grip is black, its pommel is green, and its blade is clear. Kleever also has the ability to levitate.

Kleever is located at the end of Crocodile Cauldron in Kleever's Kiln.
It reappears in the "Cast of Characters" segment of the ending credits, where it is classified under the Barnacled Bosses group.
In the Game Boy Advance re-release, Diddy and Dixie can re-battle Kleever (while timed) if they pay Swanky ten Banana Bunch Coins. This is also the case with every other boss. If the Kongs defeat Kleever, Swanky awards them with two Blue Balloons.
At the start of the battle, Kleever comes out of the lava, held by a fiery arm. It first throws three fireballs at Diddy and Dixie individually. Afterwards, a kannonball drops from the sky and onto the ground. The lead Kong must pick up the kannonball and toss it at Kleever to attack it. Upon being hit, Kleever shakes and glows red, and a set of hooks drop from the sky. The Kongs must use the hooks to cross to the side of the stage. Kleever follows them around while they climb across with the hooks. This entire cycle repeats itself two more times.
Upon being hit a third time, Kleever retreats in to the lava momentarily and then suddenly charges back out. It now floats in the air and is no longer held by a fiery arm. Kleever then horizontally charges itself at Diddy and Dixie. Many rows of hooks then drop from the sky. When the Kongs cross to the other end of the stage, Kleever charges at them another time, and a kannonball falls from the sky. When the lead Kong tosses it at Kleever, it violently slashes at them. They must cross to the other end of the stage. This cycle repeats itself two more times. Being hit a sixth time, Kleever explodes and ignites, its bones and fragments flying everywhere. Kleever then collapses into the lava, and Diddy and Dixie are awarded a Kremkoin. They then exit the boss stage and head off to Krem Quay.
In the Game Boy Advance re-release, the arena where Kleever is fought now features a thunderstorm in the background. Also, Kerozene's first two attacks during its boss fight is bringing out two small Kleevers to attack Diddy and Dixie. They are only defeated from a single hit by a kannonball. When the Kongs defeat the first pair, Kerozene brings out the second one. The small Kleevers cannot throw fireballs, and their only attack is to slice rapidly, either horizontally or in circles.
Donkey Kong Land 2
Kleever reappears in Donkey Kong Land 2, and is renamed "Kleaver". It is now the boss of Krem Cauldron, a fusion of Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay. Kleever appears in Kleaver's Kiln (renamed from Kleever's Kiln) of said world. It is not held by a lava hand at any point in its boss battle.
Kleever reappears in the "Cast of Characters" segment of the credits. It is classified under "The Baddies" group, along with every other boss and enemy in the game.
At the start of the battle, Kleever slices itself in a fixed position for a few seconds. It then shoots two fireballs at the active Kong individually and then a barrel with a kannonball inside. Diddy or Dixie must jump on the barrel to release the kannonball and toss it at Kleever. If done so, Krockheads (as opposed to hooks from the Donkey Kong Country 2 battle) come out from the lava. The active Kong must use them as platforms and cross to the other side of the stage. Kleever follows Diddy or Dixie to the other end. This entire cycle is repeated another time.
After being hit a second time, Kleever horizontally charges itself at the active Kong, who must jump over it. Kleever then floats back and forth in mid-air, and a kannon with a kannonball inside of it appears. If Diddy or Dixie touch the kannon, it shoots out a kannonball and then vanishes. Diddy or Dixie must only trigger the kannon when Kleever is directly above it. This entire cycle repeats itself another time.
Kleever is defeated upon being hit a fourth time. Diddy and Dixie are awarded a Kremkoin, and they then head off to Krazy Kremland.
- In Donkey Kong Country 2, there are two Banana Bunch Coins at the upper-right corner of Kleever's Kiln, similar to how there are two in Krow's Nest in the same game. The Kongs can either obtain them by jumping from hooks at the top-right area of the stage or Dixie using her Helicopter Spin at the same area.
- According to early drawings of the Kleever fight, Squawks the Parrot was planned to be usable, with his Animal Barrel hidden in an area behind the starting point. In the final version of the game, Squawks fights King Zing instead.
