Template:LevelboxDKL2 Rickety Race is the twentieth level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance, as well as the nineteenth level in Donkey Kong Land 2, a similar game for the original Game Boy system. It is the fourth area of Krazy Kremland.

This is the second roller coaster level in the games. Its unique feature is the ability for the heroes to race several Klanks to the finish (nine in Donkey Kong Country 2, five in Donkey Kong Land 2), although this is completely optional, as the Kongs may just take their time through. Every time Diddy or Dixie defeat a Klank, though, they receive a prize. The Klank in first has a DK Coin, so the Kongs must reach him before it gets to the finish if they desire this item. There is also a hidden Plus Barrel in the Donkey Kong Country 2 version of this level that the primates can use to increase their speed. Although Klanks are the only enemies to appear here in Donkey Kong Country 2, a lone Zinger can be found at the end of the Donkey Kong Land 2 version.

The primates begin the race in tenth place.

The level begins on a long, wooden platform with a tunnel containing a DK Barrel on it. The Kongs can find a hidden tunnel above here that leads into a Bonus Level. A track is at the end of the platform, and a Skull Cart waits on it, along with a Klank in another cart. When they land in the cart, a traffic light appears, signaling them to go. When they begin moving, they find themselves still behind the Klank, whom they can pass to gain ninth place; more Klanks appear in areas ahead every time they catch up to one. As the heroes try to catch up to the foe, they pass a gap and then ride down a large hill with the letter K just before it.

Once they make their way down, they ride back up another hill that leads them towards a small gap. It is followed by another small gap with a hill leading downwards at the other side of it. A flat part of the track is at the bottom of the hill, but it then curves upwards into an additional hill. Once the heroes ride up and down the hill, they reach a gap. A rather flat pathway is on the other side of the abyss. An abyss is farther down this area, and as the heroes race down the bumpy track following it, they pass groups of four bananas. Another gap is at the end of this track. A large hill that dips downwards is ahead. A hill leading up is immediately after it. There is another gap at the top of the hill it is followed by the letter O and a few more hills. A pair of gaps are near here. Once they are crossed, the Kongs head up a hill that pulls them up to another gap. Two smaller gaps follows this. After the last gap, the heroes ride up a hill and run into the Star Barrel.

A large hill is immediately after the Star Barrel that drops that Kongs towards a flat part of the track. Eventually, they come up to a pair of gaps that they must hop over to reach another flat area. Two more small gaps are after here, followed by another pair. These gaps are slightly smaller than the previous. The letter G is passed after these gaps, and it is followed by a small tunnel that, in the Game Boy Advance version of the game, contains a Golden Feather. A section full of hills that lead the heroes up and down is ahead. Four rather wide abysses are soon after it. After one last hill, the Kongs ride into a tunnel at the end of the flat pathway. When they enter the tunnel, they find themselves on foot again. An End of Level Target is ahead of here that they can hit to complete the level. A prize is given from the target is they jump on it from a hidden hook.

The level begins on a wooden platform with a track near it. A Skull Cart is on this track with a few bananas above it. Once it is jumped on, the cart begins to move along the track, going up and down two hills. A Klank appears after the second hill that the Kongs must past to gain fifth place. A gap follows this area. The heroes drive down a large hill from here and then approach another gap that they must cross to reach another large hill. Once they ride over the raised piece of the track, another Klank appears if they have already defeated the first Klank. If it is passed, the primates earn fourth place. A hill and a small drop are ahead of here. The letter O is in the middle of the drop. After this, the Kongs head up some hills and cross a single gap on the way. Another gap is reached after they ride up and down a few more hills. The third Klank can be spotted from this point if the others have been defeated. Passing it puts the Kongs in third place. As the primates head up a hill in this area, they approach two gaps.

Once they cross the gaps, they reach another drop. When the Skull Cart lands on the separate track, it rides up a small hill and passes the letter N. Another hill follows this hill, but a gap is at the top of it for the heroes to cross. A Klank appears at this point if all others have been defeated. The Kongs can claim second place from it. Once the primates ride up and down a few more hills, they reach yet another abyss, which has the fifth and final Klank after it. As they chase this Klank, they ride down a large hill with the letter G above it. A small gap and more hills are ahead of here. Once they ride up and down all the raised pieces of the track, they come up to a Zinger by a wooden platform. A sign that makes the Skull Cart disappear is on this platform. A spring can also be found here. When they bounce on it, they complete the level.

K-O-N-G Letters

File:RicketyRace365.png
The Kongs race towards the letter O.
  • K: The letter K is just before a large hill at the beginning of the level.
  • O: The letter O is just before the fourth gap before the Star Barrel.
  • N: The Kongs must defeat the second-to-last Klank to get the letter N.
  • G: Just before the heroes enter the tunnel with the DK Coin in it, they can find the letter G right after a gap.

Bonus Level

  • At the beginning of the level, the heroes should use their Team Up move to throw one another upwards onto the above wooden platforms. When they are at the top, Dixie Kong should be used to hover across a large gap to a small tunnel. The tunnel leads to a Bonus Level, where the Kongs must ride on a Skull Cart on a track with a few gaps in it. As they ride, several Klanks drive towards them. They must defeat at least five of these Klanks within ten seconds to make a Kremkoin appear at the end of the area. They must collect this coin before the remaining time runs out, and without falling into any abyss.

DK Coin

  • To get the DK Coin, the Kongs must finish the race in first place. There are nine Klanks they need to get ahead of before the end of the level. Once the final enemy is defeated, the coin is collected automatically.

Golden Feather (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • Near the end of the level, the primates enter a small tunnel. When they are in here, they must quickly jump to collect the hidden Golden Feather.

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: The Kongs can find the letter K shortly after the first Klank appears.
  • O: A small drop with the letter O in it is right after the second Klank.
  • N: The letter N is after the third Klank. It can be found on the way up a hill after the second drop.
  • G: The letter G is on the way down a hill after the last Klank.

DK Coin

  • The DK Coin for this level can be found almost exactly how it is found in Donkey Kong Country 2: The Kongs must defeat all five Klanks and come in first place. If the final Klank is passed, the coin appears at the end of the level next to the spring.
