In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, Parry cannot be ridden like other Animal Buddies, but instead perfectly mimics Dixie and Kiddy Kong's moves (hence the term "parallel"); in this way, he can be used to grab out-of-reach items. Getting Parry to the No Animal Sign usually earns the Kongs a large reward, such as a Bonus Barrel or a blue Life Balloon, but can be difficult because the only enemy he can safely touch are Booty Birds.

History

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble

File:Squeals365.PNG
Parry and the Kongs go to a Booty Bird in Squeals on Wheels.

Similar to Squawks in Donkey Kong Country's Torchlight Trouble, Parry is an unmountable Animal Friend in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble. Parry's Animal Crate is smaller than the other Animal Friends, given his short size. Parry is only Animal Friend of the game to not have his own Animal Barrel. Parry flies above Dixie and Kiddy Kong and mimics their movements, hence his name.

The Kongs can primarily utilize Parry to get out-of-reach items, such as Banana Bunch Coins, Bananas, or an Extra Life Balloon. In this way, the Kongs can use him to grab out-of-reach items, typically from mimicking their jump movement. Parry is the most vulnerable Animal Friend, as he cannot attack any enemy but can be defeated by most aerial enemies, in most instances, Buzzes. Booty Birds are the inky exception, as Parry can easily defeat one by touching it.

The Kongs usually receive a large reward if they successfully navigate Parry past its No Animal Sign, such as a blue Extra Life Balloon, or even an accessible Bonus Barrel.

Parry appears in five levels, most of which each have a different level theme: Squeals on Wheels, Rocket Barrel Ride, Barrel Drop Bounce, Ropey Rumpus, and Stampede Sprint. Nearly half of Parry's level appearances are in waterfall-themed stages.
