Clapper the Seal is a seal Animal Buddy found in the games Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. If the Kongs jump on him, he cools down the water with his special ability.
In both of the aforementioned games, Clapper appears in only two levels: "Lava Lagoon" and "Clapper's Cavern". In "Lava Lagoon", Clapper appears throughout the level to aid Diddy and Dixie Kong by using his breath to briefly cool down the boiling hot water in the level, thus making it safe to swim through. In "Clapper's Cavern", Clapper once again uses his breath abilities to aid the heroes. Here, Clapper can briefly freeze the water in the level so that the Kongs can walk on it, keeping them safe from the Snapjaw piranha below the surface of the water.
Trivia
- Although Clapper has yet to made another appearance outside of Donkey Kong Land 2 and Donkey Kong Country 2, a seal nearly identical to Clapper, can be found in Donkey Kong 64's fourth world, Gloomy Galleon. Unlike this Clapper, however, he is able to communicate with the Kongs and is dressed like a pirate.
- Clapper is one of few of the Animal Buddies that tends to appear several times in a level.
- Clapper got his name from the fact that seals constantly clap when they laugh.
