Template:Species-infobox Skittlers[1] are arthropod enemies inhabiting the Forest world from Donkey Kong Country Returns. They look and behave like spiders, although they only have six feet instead of eight, and are divided into an orange and a purple variety.

History

Donkey Kong Country Returns / Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

A purple Skittler.

Orange Skittlers try to attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by drooping down from a thread. Once it reaches the ground, the enemy will land and proceed to crawl towards the Kongs. Purple Skittlers, however, do not drop on the open ground unless forced with a stomp attack, and after it falls from its thread, it will start to walk across the area, eventually ending up in a pit. A few purple Skittlers hanging directly above a pit will immediately perish from a stomp attack, instead of falling down.

The Kongs will lose a heart point after mere contact with a Skittler. They cannot approach a Skittler with a roll attack if the enemy is hanging from a thread, though other attacks will work. However, once on its feet, the enemy can be defeated with any attack, including a roll.

Forest Folly
Three frozen Skittlers can be seen at the bottom of the landscape. Notice the large spider webs cladding a totem.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, several Skittlers can be seen in the background of the level Forest Folly, frozen in blocks of ice.
