Mole Miners are mole-like enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns. During the events of the game they were hypnotized by the Tiki Tak Tribe and forced to do their bidding. Mole Miners are an industrial race of moles that reside in the Cave region of Donkey Kong Island where they have set up numerous mining operations.

Appearance

With the name "Mole Miner" one can speculate that they heavily resemble moles. They are brown in color with one big tooth sticking out of their mouths. They have paws with white claws and a tiny stubby tail. They don't appear to have eyes, but they have head flashlights that cover the eye area. They also have what looks to be shaved whiskers, but they look like freckles because they are shaved.

Attacks

Mole Miners are capable of many things, such as driving Mine Carts or trains, throwing bombs, (including ones much larger than themselves), swinging and throwing pickaxes, floating on makeshift balloons, operating loading chutes, storing an infinite amount of pickaxes in their fur, and burrowing through solid rock.

Trivia:

  • In the cutscene preceding the Mole Train boss battle, the mole miners are seen loading bananas into train cars to carry deeper into the cave. If one looks closely, one mole is seen sitting down eating a sandwich it pulled out of a lunchbox.
  • Roasting Rails, and Prehistoric Path are the only Minecart levels that Mole Miners don't appear in.
