[edit] Summary
In order to access Tiki Tong, the player must first pass a long Rocket Barrel section to reach the very top of the volcano, to Tiki Tong Tower. The Kongs must ride upwards through many moving spikes, tikis on hot air balloons, and other obstacles. Once it is passed, the Kongs will land directly inside the volcano to find out there is solid land.
Upon entering, a cut-scene will ensue, which reveals the Tiki Tak Tribe's motive for stealing the bananas. The Banana Hoard is seen in a large pile, and of course upon sight Donkey and Diddy Kong celebrate. Tiki Tong then enters the arena, by itself simply a large, floating drum-like head. However the nearby tiki minions start taking smaller piles of bananas and start throwing them into Tiki Tong's head. After, Tiki Tong will spit a lava-like goo all over the tikis, transforming them into two hands.
Tiki's attack pattern consists of taking its hands, putting them sideways and sliding them left and right, which must be ducked under. Also, it can take its two (or one) hand(s) and clap or slam them/it into the ground. Additionally, it can grab Diddy and Donkey Kong or raise one of its hands up and bring it down quickly, which will leave its weak spot open. Donkey and Diddy Kong must jump on the red spot on Tong's hands when they are down in order to hurt them. Each hand will explode in a plume of bananas after being hit twice.
After losing the two hands, Tong will get enraged and resort to using its own head. The attack pattern will then go to a simple head slam-drop, and then to releasing flaming enemies that either target Donkey/Diddy or drop down slowly. These are usually long, enduring processes and hearts do not come often. A larger, more fierce head drop will take the top part of the boss's head off for a short period of time revealing another red, glowing weak spot which must be jumped on a few times to finally defeat Tiki Tong.

[edit] Trivia
- Similar to King K. Rool, one of Tiki Tong's eyes is bigger than the other.
- Tiki Tong bears a strong resemblance to Andross from the Star Fox series.
- If the player is using the "only Diddy Kong" mode, after beating the boss, Diddy Kong will be sent into space, but unlike with Donkey Kong, he will panic, and desperately try to save himself from crashing into the moon, by using his barrel jet. It malfunctions however, and Diddy is sent banging his head on the moon, making it fall onto the volcano like usual. But then he falls down to the ground unconscious, but Donkey catches him in his arms, and they meet up on the ground, and rejoice about getting their bananas back.
