Template:Level Dingy Drain-Pipe is the thirty-first level in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! It is also the first area of Pacifica.

This level is set in a partially-flooded pipeline. The Kongs must swim through the green water and travel through the dark pipeline, jumping in and out of small passages. In some areas of the level, the water level will lower, preventing the monkeys from backtracking. The stage can sometimes become brutal for the Kongs, but luckily, Enguarde the Swordfish appears for a short period of time to help the apes defeat several Kocos inhabiting the level. Bristles, Buzzes, Lurchins, and Re-Koils can also be found in various parts of the level.

Level Layout

The level begins with a strait pathway down through a gap, in which the Kongs must fall into to reach a lower area. Heading east in this area, they pass some Bristles and soon fall into another gap. The apes, upon falling, are caught by the waters flooding some of the pipeline. They must continue downwards in the drainpipe and maneuver around a few Lurchins to enter the next area. There, the heroes find a westward path to follow. Swimming through this enemy-filled pathway, the Kongs find many Lurchins, most of them moving up and down. After passing a few stationary Lurchins, the apes take a narrow pathway down south. At that point, the water drains, and the heroes will be stranded in the lower area of the pipe. However, once they avoid some Kocos, the monkeys find the way back on dry land by using an Auto Fire Barrel. Heading east there, they find the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the Kongs cross a small gap, hitting a DK Barrel. A group of Bristles move towards the Kongs once they cross the gap, but they can easily be defeated with a cartwheel attack. The monkeys must jump into a flooded area of the pipeline after that, which takes them to an area full of Kocos. The Kongs have to dodge each one of the small foes, and soon head downwards, following a trail of bananas. Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong find themselves in another area full of Lurchins as they progress, and they need to swim between two of the sharp foes to continue. This, however, can be tricky, as a third Lurchin can be found between the enemies as well, moving around in the small space. Once the apes find their way around the underwater enemies, they travel through a narrow passageway to find a large, open area. As they hover down to the floor in this area, the water level in greatly decrease, until it disappears. Now in a dry pipe, the monkeys must walk to the east and pass several Re-Koils and Bristles until they find a lone Booster Barrel. Jumping in the barrel, they are raised to a higher area, where they pass a few Buzzes. If Dixie and her partner fall into the first gap, they land near a flagpole. Raising the pole's flag ends the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Shortly after the heroes enter the water, they pass many Lurchins. As they travel, they can notice a gap at the top of the area. Swimming upwards, they find a Bonus Barrel in the gap. The barrel leads them into a Bonus Level, where they need to run through a square-shaped area and collect stars. With the assistance of Barrel Cannons, they must eventually get all the stars and find the Bonus Coin at the bottom of the area.
  • After passing the No Animal Sign, the Kongs need to move on until the water drains. Once the green liquid does disappear, they have to head east past a few Bristles to find a small gap above them. If the monkeys use their Team Up move at this point, throwing a Kong upwards, they reach a Bonus Barrel. The barrel then takes them into a Bonus Level, where the apes swim downwards through the pipeline and grab many stars. The water level decreases a little as they reach the end, so they need to make sure they didn't pass any stars at the end of the area. Once fifty-five stars are obtained, a Bonus Coin appear at the bottom of the stage.

DK Coin

  • After finding the first Bear Coin above a green Buzz, the monkeys must pass several Bristles and spot a gap in the ceiling. They have to use their Team Up move and throw a monkey, preferably Dixie, into the gap, to find themselves in a hidden barrel. The barrel blasts them into a high area, where they meet a Koin. As usual, the enemy has the DK Coin, and will not give it up without a fight. Finding the Steel Barrel at the end of the pipeline, they must gently throw the barrel against a wall and follow it back to the Koin. Hopping over the foe, the Koin keeps his attention on the Kongs, not watching the barrel rolling behind him. Eventually, the keg will hit and defeat him, thus giving the Kongs the DK Coin.
