“Sharp-beaked peril who can get stuck in the wood if he misses the players.”
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! instruction booklet, page 19

Swoopies are red birds with a long beak and enemies that only appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. Like the Super Mario enemy, Swoop, Swoopies are named after their main trait of swooping.

Swoopies are the aerial equivalent of Bazzas and Lemguins, in that they use a similar attack pattern. An indefinite number of Swoopies fly in a straight line from one hole in a tree to the next. Sometimes, when a Swoopy notices Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong, it directly charges at them. Regardless of whether it hits them, Swoopy gets its beak stuck in the tree bark, allowing the Kongs to use it as a platform.

An individual Swoopy first appears in the level, Springin' Spiders. In Krematoa, Swoopies have an entire level dedicated to and named after them, Swoopy Salvo. The level is set in a large, petrified forest where the Kongs must avoid barrages of Swoopies and use them as platforms to progress into the level. When Swoopies are in a group, they do not directly charge at the Kongs.

During the ending, in Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a Swoopy is shown under the Flying Fiends category.
