Parry (character)
- This article is about a bird from Donkey Kong Country 3. For Peach's similarly-named umbrella, see Perry.
- “This fellow is never too far away and helps you collect out-of-reach items. Once you release Parry, he will follow you from above, collecting items.”
- —Donkey Kong Country 3 manual, page 17
Parry the Parallel Bird is an Animal Friend in the Donkey Kong Country series who first appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. Parry is a small yellow bird with a blue head and a white neck-stripe; his blue wing-feathers are tipped with red, and his tail slightly resembles that of a real-world Quetzal. The name "Parry" is a shortened form of the word "parallel" ("to be an equal distance apart").

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, Parry cannot be ridden like other Animal Buddies, but instead perfectly mimics Dixie and Kiddy Kong's moves (hence the term "parallel"); in this way, he can be used to grab out-of-reach items. Getting Parry to the No Animal Sign usually earns the Kongs a large reward, such as a Bonus Barrel or a blue Life Balloon, but can be difficult because the only enemy he can safely touch are Booty Birds.
