Parry the Parallel Bird is one of the Kong's many Animal Buddies. He only appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. Unlike the other animal buddies, Parry cannot be ridden, but stays perfectly parallel to Dixie and Kiddy Kong's moves, hence the name. Parry can grab any item he hits, making him a wonderful tool and ally. Also, if he gets to the No Animal Sign, the Kongs will usually get a large reward such as a Bonus Barrel or a blue Life Balloon.

Parry is an Animal Friend who only appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! He is a small yellow bird with a blue head and a white neck-stripe; his blue wing-feathers are tipped with red, and he has two long, curved tail feathers, giving him a similar appearance to certain bird-of-paradise, such as the red bird-of-paradise. Getting Parry to the No Animal Sign can be difficult, as contact with any enemy (mostly Buzzes) will instantly defeat him. However, Parry can easily defeat any Booty Birds in his path without getting hurt.

Parry flies above Dixie and Kiddy Kong and mimics their movements, hence his name. Parry can sometimes obtain otherwise unreachable items, such as in instances where if the Kongs jump, Parry mimics this behavior. Parry is the weakest of the Animal Friends since he is not only defeated from touching nearly every enemy, but also has no means of attack. Booty Birds are the only enemy that Parry can defeat, simply by touching them. If Parry is taken beyond his No Animal Sign, this spawns a valuable reward, such as a Blue Balloon or even an accessible Bonus Barrel.

Template:Quote2 Parry is an Animal Friend who only appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! He is a small yellow bird with a blue head and a white neck-stripe; his blue wing-feathers are tipped with red, and he has two long, curved tail feathers, giving him a similar appearance to certain birds-of-paradise, such as the red bird-of-paradise. Parry's name is a shortened form of the word "parallel" ("to be an equal distance apart"), and likely also plays off "paradise." Parry is the only Animal Friend from the game who does not appear in Donkey Kong Land III.

Parry is an unmountable Animal Friend, somewhat like Squawks in Donkey Kong Country. Parry's animal crate is smaller than the other Animal Friends, given his short size, and Parry is the only Animal Friend of the game who lacks his own Animal Barrel. Parry flies above Dixie and Kiddy Kong and mimics their movements, hence his name. Parry can sometimes obtain otherwise unreachable items, such as in instances where if the Kongs jump, Parry mimics this behavior. Parry appears in five levels, most of them differing in level theme: Squeals on Wheels, Rocket Barrel Ride, Barrel Drop Bounce, Ropey Rumpus, and Stampede Sprint. Nearly half of Parry's level appearances are in waterfall-themed stages.
