A Krash is a mine-cart driving Kritter. Krashs can be a real hassle, as they have no concern for their own safety. Krashs will attempt to run Donkey and Diddy off a mine cart track, time your jumps accurately so that they clear him and he ends up plowing onward to his own inevitable doom.

Krashes (also known as Cart Kritters) are Kritters who ride in Mine Carts uncontrollably. In the former game, Krashes have an identical appearance to green Kritters, or purple in the Game Boy Advance remake. In Donkey Kong 64, Krashes were given a distinct, muscular appearance and wield a club. Though they do not appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Krashes have a similar counterpart named Klanks, which ride in Roller Coasters.

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest an enemy similar to Krash, called Klank appears. The only major difference between a Krash and a Klank is that Klanks, instead of trying to ram the kongs throw barrels at them.

Krashes make their second and final appearance in Mine Cart Madness. Here, they sit idly at the start of a track railing. Unlike in Mine Cart Carnage, the Kongs can safely jump on a Krash to hijack its Mine Cart, and resume riding on the tracks.

Krashs also appear in Donkey Kong 64 in the game's mine cart tracks. The Krashs in this game are much more muscular and now weild a club, which they try to smack a kong with, if they do that kong will lose coins. These Krashs can be defeated by causing them to smash into something such as a pile of rocks. Usually a kong will have to pull a lever to drop something in a Krash's path.
In the Game Boy Advance remake, Krashes were changed to have a light purple skin.

* Interestingly the Donkey Kong 64 version of Krash is extremely similar in appearance to Klubba, a "sort-of" ally of the Kongs from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Like Klubba, Krash is large, muscular, has a small head in proportion to the rest of it's body and weilds a large spiked club. These similarities led some to believe that Krash was Klubba.

Krashes (also known as Cart Kritters[1]) are Kritters who ride in Mine Carts uncontrollably. They appear in Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64.

Mine Cart Carnage
Diddy jumping over a Krash in Mine Cart Carnage

In their debut appearance in Donkey Kong Country, Krashes appear in both Mine Cart levels, Mine Cart Carnage and Mine Cart Madness. In their first level appearance, Krashes ride a Mine Cart in the opposite direction of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, and if they ram into the Kongs, the lead one falls out of the Mine Cart. Although Krashes look just as vulnerable as Kritters, the Kongs cannot jump on a Krash while riding on a Mine Cart, as this injures them while leaving the Krash unaffected; the Kongs must jump over the Krash instead.

Krashes make their second and final appearance in Mine Cart Madness. Here, they sit idly at the start of a track railing. Unlike in Mine Cart Carnage, the Kongs can safely jump on a Krash to hijack its Mine Cart, and resume riding on the tracks.

In the Game Boy Advance remake, Krashes were changed to have a light purple skin.

A Krash in Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, Krashes appear in the Mine Cart Rides where they ride on a track adjacent to the Kongs. Krashes were redesigned to have a muscular appearance and wield a club, both of which further distinguish them from Kritters. The Kongs can jump over the club to avoid taking damage. If the Kongs are hit, they lose three DK Coins.

Krashes are defeated if they crash into a pile of rocks or fall into a pit. The active Kong usually has to pull a lever to defeat Krash either way.

Trivia[edit]

 • Though Krashes never directly appeared on the Donkey Kong Country animated series, some episodes have Kritters riding around on minecarts, effectively making a Krash in a sense.
 • The name for Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing was originally intended to be Krash; it was most likely changed to differentiate him from the already existing Krash enemies.
