Krumples are large, blue, and muscular members of the Kremling Krew who appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III. They have a similar appearance and role to Krushas and Krunchas from the two respective previous installments. A Krumple appears on the box art of both games that it appears in.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

Krumples only appear in three levels of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!: Rocket Barrel Ride, Tracker Barrel Trek, and Creepy Caverns. Like most enemies, Krumples attack Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong by simply moving into them. A Krumple can be defeated from either a barrel, Team Up, or by having Kiddy jump on them (just like how in the first game, only Donkey Kong can defeat blue Krushas with a jump attack. In Tracker Barrel Trek, Ellie the Elephant can defeat Krumples by spraying water at them, while in Creepy Caverns, Krumples can be defeated by Squitter the Spider's webs. Krumples are unaffected by Kiddy's roll, unless he performs it from high enough, or any of Dixie's attacks, and he will respond back by taunting the Kongs. In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a Krumple photograph appears under the Kremling Kreeps category.

In the Game Boy Advance version, Krumples also appear in Surf's Up, and its sound effects are recycled from Krunchas in the Donkey Kong Country 2 remake.

Donkey Kong Land III[edit]

In Donkey Kong Land III, though Krumples behave identically as in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, they appear in significantly more levels.

Trivia[edit]

  • Rather than making the usual defeated enemy sound, Krumples make an actual roar when knocked out. This roar is a slowed down version of the same sound effect used for Baron K. Roolenstein and Kuff 'n' Klout.
    • This same roar is based on an actual alligator's bellow.
  • Krumple is mentioned in Kludge's Super Smash Bros. Brawl trophy, but only in American English versions.
