A Krash is a minecart-driving Kremling species which debuted in Donkey Kong Country. Krashes are identical in appearance to Kritters, but the context they are found in alters their behavior and, eventually, attack pattern. Krashes are normally green, but they are purple in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country.
Krashes (also known as Cart Kritters) are Kritters who ride in Mine Carts uncontrollably. They appear in Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64. In the former game, Krashes have an identical appearance to green Kritters, or purple in the Game Boy Advance remake. In Donkey Kong 64, Krashes were given a distinct, muscular appearance and wield a club. Though they do not appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Krashes have a similar counterpart named Klanks, which ride in Roller Coasters.

In their debut game, Krashes are first found within Mine Cart Carnage, the second level of Monkey Mines. Here, they ride a mine cart in the opposite direction of Donkey and Diddy Kong, knocking them off the minecart track they are traveling on if doing so. Krashes cannot be defeated in any way, despite being Kritters with uncovered top sides. If the Kongs attempt to stomp on a Krash while riding their minecart, they will be damaged without affecting the enemy in any way.

In their debut appearance in Donkey Kong Country, Krashes appear in both Mine Cart levels, Mine Cart Carnage and Mine Cart Madness. In their first level appearance, Krashes ride a Mine Cart in the opposite direction of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, and if they ram into the Kongs, the lead one falls out of the Mine Cart. Although Krashes look just as vulnerable as Kritters, the Kongs cannot jump on a Krash while riding on a Mine Cart, as this injures them while leaving the Krash unaffected; the Kongs must jump over the Krash instead.

The situation changes in a later level, Mine Cart Madness, the fifth stage of Kremkroc Industries, Inc., where Krashes simply stay put underanged on the tracks. As the Kongs are required to navigate through most of the level in minecarts, they have to stomp on Krashes with their bare feet just as on Kritters. This action results in the enemies getting ploughed off their vehicles, leaving them open to getting stolen and taken full control of by the primates.
Krashes make their second and final appearance in Mine Cart Madness. Here, they sit idly at the start of a track railing. Unlike in Mine Cart Carnage, the Kongs can safely jump on a Krash to hijack its Mine Cart, and resume riding on the tracks.

Krashes do not return in Donkey Kong Land, and Klanks partly take their role in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Unlike Krashes, Klanks never ram into the Kongs, aside from a certain Bonus Level in Rickety Race; instead, they follow the same direction as the Kongs and throw barrels at them. Whereas Krashes could not be stomped on while riding a vehicle, Klanks can be only taken out by doing so.
In the Game Boy Advance remake, Krashes were changed to have a light purple skin.

Krashes return in Donkey Kong 64 in the game's minecart adventures. They ride on tracks adjacent to the Kongs. The Krashes of this game are much more muscular, with each of them wielding a club they try to smack the Kongs with. This redesign distinguishes Krashes from Kritters, as there was no visual difference between the two species in Donkey Kong Country. If they succeed in damaging the Kongs, the latter will lose three coins from the ones collected in the course of their minecart rides. These Krashes can be defeated if the primate heroes cause them to run into a solid formation, such as a pile of rocks, or if they fall into a pit. Usually, the Kongs have to encounter and rapidly pull a lever in order to drop such formation onto a Krash's path.

*The Donkey Kong 64 version of Krash is extremely similar in appearance to Klubba, a pseudo-ally of the Kongs from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. Like Klubba, Krash is large, muscular, green, has a small head in proportion to the rest of its body, and wields a large club.
*The Krashes in Donkey Kong 64 also strangely resemble the current design of a Kritter, even though the Kritters were not redesigned until DK: King of Swing, 6 years later.
*Though Krashes never directly appeared on the Donkey Kong Country animated series, some episodes have Kritters riding around on minecarts, effectively making a Krash in a sense.

**Similarly, in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, when Kritter hops into a minecart, he resembles a Krash.
**In some courses of Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Kritter can hop into a minecart, making him act like Krash.
*The name for Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing was originally intended to be Krash; it was most likely changed to differentiate him from the already existing Krash enemies.

A Krash in Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, Krashes appear in the Mine Cart Rides where they ride on a track adjacent to the Kongs. Krashes were redesigned to have a muscular appearance and wield a club, both of which further distinguish them from Kritters. The Kongs can jump over the club to avoid taking damage. If the Kongs are hit, they lose three DK Coins.

Krashes are defeated if they crash into a pile of rocks or fall into a pit. The active Kong usually has to pull a lever to defeat Krash either way.
