The Banana Bird Caves are a series of caverns that contain an imprisoned Banana Bird and appear throughout the Northern Kremisphere. They only appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

When Baron K. Roolenstein, under the guise of KAOS, invaded the Northern Kremisphere, to make sure he was unopposed, sealed away the powerful Banana Bird Queen. To make sure the queen couldn't escape, K. Rool had the Kremling Krew hunt down and capture the queen's various children, the Banana Birds. Though the Kremling Krew didn't capture all of the Banana Birds, they did obtain the majority of them, sealing these in caves located all over the Northern Kremisphere.
History
During Baron K. Roolenstein's invasion of the Northern Kremisphere, he trapped the Banana Bird Queen behind a barrier and imprisoned every Banana Bird in a Banana Bird Cave, to ensure that he would not be opposed. Throughout their adventure, Dixie and Kiddy Kong must rescue the Banana Birds trapped in every Banana Bird Cave, one of which appears in every world, and a few on the Northern Kremisphere map itself. A few of the Banana Bird Caves can only be reached with the help of a Brothers Bear, or by using the Gyrocopter.

During the events of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong, on their quest to find the missing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, would sometimes stumble upon a hidden Banana Bird Cave. In order to free a crystal-imprisoned Banana Bird, the Kongs would have to play a memory game with flashing red, green, yellow, and blue crystals. The crystals would flash in a sequence which the Kongs must copy. If they copy the sequence correctly, they will free a Banana Bird; if they fail, they will have to try again. As the game progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to free a Banana Bird due to the crystal sequence flashing at a much faster pace and increasing in length.
When visiting a Banana Bird Cave (which Cranky Kong introduces to the Kongs upon first visiting one in the Game Boy Advance port), the Kongs must participate in a concentration challenge and notice the sequence in which the red, green, yellow, and blue crystals flash in. Each crystal is arranged and colored the same as the snes, snes, snes, and snes buttons on a Japanese and European Super Nintendo Entertainment System controller, and each button causes its corresponding crystal to light up. The sequence in which the crystals flash is always random, and the player can replicate the sequence by pushing the buttons in the same order that the crystals flash in. In the Game Boy Advance port, the GBA is used to activate the crystals; similarly, the crystals are activated based on which arrow button the player presses. A Banana Bird Cave has a mostly empty scenery except for some tunnels that appear in the background.

Occasionally, the Kongs may need help to reach Banana Bird Caves. This help often comes in the form of members of the Brothers Bear family. In exchange for a favor or something similar, a bear may sometimes open the path to a Banana Bird Cave.
By successfully replicating the order, the Banana Bird breaks out from the small crystal it is imprisoned in, and the Kongs obtain it. If the Kongs do not replicate the order correctly, they leave out of the Banana Bird Cave and must re-enter it if they want to retry the challenge.

If the Kongs manage to free all of the Banana Birds, they will be able to free the imprisoned Banana Bird Queen from the evil barrier.

Aside from the aforementioned Banana Birds and flashing crystals, there is not much in a Banana Bird Cave, though what looks like tunnels can be seen in the background of the caves, leading to the possibility that the caves are inter-connected to one another.

Template:Location-infobox The Banana Bird Caves are a series of caverns that contain an imprisoned Banana Bird and appear throughout the Northern Kremisphere. They only appear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

When visiting a Banana Bird Cave (which Cranky Kong introduces to the Kongs upon first visiting one in the Game Boy Advance port), the Kongs must participate in a concentration challenge and notice the sequence in which the red, green, yellow, and blue crystals flash in. Each crystal is arranged and colored the same as the A Button, B Button, X Button, and Y Button buttons on a Japanese and European Super Nintendo Entertainment System controller, and each button causes its corresponding crystal to light up. The sequence in which the crystals flash is always random, and the player can replicate the sequence by pushing the buttons in the same order that the crystals flash in. In the Game Boy Advance port, the +Control Pad is used to activate the crystals; similarly, the crystals are activated based on which arrow button the player presses. A Banana Bird Cave has a mostly empty scenery except for some tunnels that appear in the background.

By successfully replicating the order, the Banana Bird breaks out from the small crystal it is imprisoned in, and the Kongs obtain it. If the Kongs do not replicate the order correctly, they leave out of the Banana Bird Cave and must re-enter it if they want to retry the challenge.
