Klingers first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. When they slide down the ropes, they try to hit into the Kongs. If they are successful in doing so, the hero they hit is defeated. The defeated hero can be brought back with the help of a DK Barrel. However, if the Kongs throw an object at them, such as a barrel or a kannonball, the Klinger falls off the rope and is defeated. Klingers can also be defeated by being jumped on by one of the Kongs. They make major appearances in the level, Chain Link Chamber. In the Donkey Kong Country 2 Player's Guide, it is told that the Klingers are the only Kremlings that can climb and they had to learn it first, as other Kremlings are not natural-born climbers. According to the game's credits, Klingers belong to the "Kremling Kuthroats" enemy class.

Klingers reappear in the follow-up game of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Donkey Kong Land 2. Their role in the game is exactly like their role in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, which is climbing ropes and trying to defeat the Kongs.
In Donkey Kong Land 2, Klingers also first appear in the game's counterpart of the level Mainbrace Mayhem. Diddy or Dixie can now defeat a Klinger by moving horizontally into it if they are on intersecting ropes. In the end credits, Klingers, along with the other enemies and bosses, are instead classified as "The Baddies."

Klingers are Kremlings with the capability of climbing ropes and chains. Klingers are orange-skinned, yellow-bellied Kremlings with a long, scaly tail. They wear a green, white-spotted head bandana and a matching loincloth around the waist. Klingers (aside from Klobbers) are among the few Kremlings to have ears, in which they have a hoop earring for each one. Klingers have clawed toes but their fingers do not. Their artwork also depicts them having a large dagger in their mouth, though it does not appear in-game. Klingers do not have an instinctive climbing ability, but were instead trained specifically to achieve this ability.[1] Klingers first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Chain Link Chamber

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Klingers first appear in Mainbrace Mayhem. They repeatedly climb up a rope or another object, such as a chain, before sliding down, usually making it harder for Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to get across the ropes. A Klinger can be defeated from having an object thrown at it, such as a barrel, kannonball, or a crate, or from a team up throw. The affected Klinger falls off the rope when defeated. Like most other enemies, if Diddy or Dixie touch a Klinger, the player loses that Kong. In Krockhead Klamber, the Klingers are climbing on cattails. Later on, Klingers noticeably appear as in Chain Link Chamber as the main enemies encountered. In the ending credits, Klingers are classified under "Kremling Kuthroats" along with the other Kremlings.

Donkey Kong Land 2

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Klingers also first appear in the game's counterpart of the level Mainbrace Mayhem. Diddy or Dixie can now defeat a Klinger by moving horizontally into it if they are on intersecting ropes. In the end credits, Klingers, along with the other enemies and bosses, are instead classified as "The Baddies."

Donkey Konga 2

In Donkey Konga 2, Klinger's artwork is among the graphics that can display onscreen in Freestyle Zone as the player hits the DK Bongos.
