Lava Lagoon is the third level in Krem Cauldron, designed in vein of the Donkey Kong Country 2 level of the same name. Red-Hot Ride is unlocked by finishing this level.

Summary

The water becomes dark to signify it being too hot to swim in.

Lava Lagoon is another ship hold level taking place inside one of the shipwrecks of Krem Cauldron. It appears to be similar to Lockjaw's Locker, but with a catch—the water will heat up over time, eventually becoming hazardous. Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong will have to use the animal buddy Clapper to help them combat the lava. Clapper can cool over the lava and make the water swim-able. This is only temporary, however, and as a result this level is a race to get to safe land before the water becomes too hot. Along the way are several Flotsam, Lockjaw, and a water enemy making its first appearance in the game, Puftup. Puftup are puffer fish that can expand while underwater and get in the way. Enguarde the Swordfish's Animal Barrel can be found a total of three times throughout the level to combat the aquatic enemies and swim faster.

Bonus Levels

  • Find the Token! -- The Kongs have twenty seconds to swim to the other side of the area while avoiding a handful of Flotsams.
