Klingers are climbing Kremlings that can scale ropes, chains, and, in Krem Quay levels, reeds, then slide down them with ease. They first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and later in Donkey Kong Land 2. When they slide down the ropes, they try to hit into the Kongs. If they are successful in doing so, one of the heroes are damaged and run away. However, if the Kongs throw an object, such as a barrel, at them, the Klingers fall off their rope and are defeated. The Kongs can also jump on a Klinger, but this can be difficult as the Kongs may grab on to the rope instead and get hurt by the Klinger. In the Donkey Kong Country 2 Player's Guide, it is told that the Klingers are the only Kremlings that can climb, and they had to learn it first, as Kremlings are not natural-born climbers.
