A self-proclaimed code breaker, Baffle has discovered a clue he cannot crack. He will explain this dilemma to Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong if they pay him a visit. In order to help Baffle solve his code, the Kongs will need the Mirror, which Bazaar sells. By doing so, they will open up a sealed Banana Bird Cave. When the Kongs visit him after that, he will be giving up to four scrambled messages. The player can re-construct it, revealing messages like "Hello Kongs! How are you today?", "How's it going good buddies!", "You've just wasted fifteen seconds", or "Haven't you got anything better to do?". These messages are either backwards or re-arranged.

Physical appearance
Baffle originally wore a flower-patterned green shirt, white shorts, and green sneakers. He has long, brown hair tied into a ponytail, which is not seen in his official artwork. Baffle is the only Brother Bear with hair on his head. He was redesigned in the Game Boy Advance remake, where he wears a typical beige detective outfit. This makes his role more obvious. It is unknown if he lost his hair, as his hat conceals his head.

It is possible for the Kongs to open the Banana Bird Cave without ever dealing with Baffle, although only experienced players would know to do so. However, giving Baffle the Mirror is the only way to learn how to open the Banana Bird Cave without outside help.
Name origin
Baffle's name is shared with the word "baffle", which means to be confused, which accurately applies to him since he is a codebreaker.

* In the game in the original SNES version, Baffle is depicted having long brown hair tied into a ponytail, making him the only member of the Brothers Bear to have hair growing on his head. In the official artwork, he doesn't have any hair growing on his head. In the Game Boy Advance remake, he wears a detective outfit complete with a hat and coat instead of his casual nature-style clothing.

Baffle is a member of the Brothers Bear and a retired Funky Bear Investigators agent[1] who only appears in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, where he operates his own investigative headquarters in Kaos Kore. Baffle is a self-proclaimed master at solving code. However, he stumbles upon on a clue he cannot solve. He explains the problem to Dixie and Kiddy, and that he needs the Mirror to solve it. Once he is given the Mirror, Baffle deciphers the message, which is a riddle: "To open the gate, at the two stones make an eight." Baffle does not understand what it means, but is at least satisfied that he can read the message. The Kongs are not required to visit Baffle if the player had prior knowledge of the secret, which is that Kaos Kore's secret cave, "Sewer Stockpile," can be revealed by swimming in a figure-8 pattern around two rocks in the lake. When the code is solved, Baffle's dialogue during subsequent visits is selected from one of four sentences, either reversed or scrambled: "Hello Kongs! How are you today?", "How's it going good buddies!", "You've just wasted fifteen seconds", or "Haven't you got anything better to do?".
