Template:Articleabout Template:Level Surf's Up is the thirty-sixth level in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble. It is also the sixth area of Pacifica.

During this pipeline level, the Kongs will ride through toboggan, much like in Demolition Drain-Pipe, a level in Mekanos. However, at some point after the Star Barrel, the toboggan ride will end and the heroes will have to continue on foot. While traveling through the rest of the pipeline, they will encounter Krumples Buzzes, Krimps, and red and yellow Knik-Knaks. Some Kocos appear in a Bonus Level as well.

Level Layout

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs will jump into a small gap and land in a lower area. There, they should pass a Krumple and walk up to a toboggan. Getting in the vehicle, they will automatically begin to move. As they travel on the toboggan, they will find themselves jumping over and sliding under many green Buzzes. Soon, the monkeys will find a wall of two red Buzzes in their path, so they will need to make the toboggan grab onto the above railing to dodge them. A green Buzz will be just beyond the railing, so they will have to get off of the bar as soon as possible. Continuing through the level, the Kongs will ride inside of the curvy pipeline, avoiding countless numbers of Buzzes. Sometimes, they will need to use the metal bars at the top of certain areas to pass gaps and Buzzes. Eventually, Kiddy and Dixie will run into a Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the apes will find themselves dodging more green Buzzes and crossing more gaps. Soon, they will find another wall of red Buzzes in their way, so a railing will be required to use to dodge the wasps. After the heroes ride through the rest of the area in the toboggan, jumping over several road block obstacles, they will see an Auto Fire Barrel in the distance. Before crashing into the wall, they should get into the barrel and shoot through a short chain of barrels. They barrels will fire them to the letter N, and then to the ground, free from the toboggan. Heading on foot, they will pass a few strong Krumples and encounter a swarm of three Buzzes, each moving in a circular pattern. They should carefully dodge the foes and pass a few more Krumples to meet some green Buzzes flying up and down in the pipeline. When they move upwards, the monkeys should dash under them to avoid the enemies. After dodging another swarm of green Buzzes, the monkeys will find a few Krimps to avoid, as well as a Blast Barrel. The barrel will shoot them upwards. While airborne, the player will need to guide the Kongs onto a nearby ledge to progress. Traveling to the east, the apes will cross a small gap and find a flagpole. Raising its flag will end the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Not too long before the Star Barrel, the monkeys, in a toboggan, will enter an area with two small gaps in the ground, as well as a railing above them. As the toboggan nears this area, the monkeys will need to grip onto the railing and head above the first gap. If they look at the second gap, they will see a lone banana in it. Dropping from the metal bar into this gap will make lead the Kongs into a hidden Bonus Barrel. This barrel will guide the monkeys into a Bonus Level, where they will have to swim through a flooded pipeline, collecting many stars. After dodging some Kocos and making it to the end of the bonus, they will find a Bonus Coin.
  • Just before the level's end, the monkeys will be shot out of a Blast Barrel onto a ledge. They should land onto the ledge to the left to find a Bonus Barrel hidden in the corner of the area. If they bounce on the yellow Knik-Knak nearby, they will be able to reach the barrel. They can also use their Team-Up move to reach it. The Bonus Barrel will take the heroes into a Bonus Level, where they will need to speed through the area on a toboggan, dodging several green Buzzes. If they manage to reach the end of the stage, they will find a Bonus Coin.

DK Coin

  • At the end of the level, the monkeys will find a small gap. They should pass the Knik-Knak within it and land in an area with the Koin, who will, as usual, have the DK Coin. However, he will not give up the coin without a fight, so, with the nearby Steel Barrel, the monkeys will need to attack. With the silver barrel in their hands, the heroes should stand on the enemy and throw the barrel at the nearest wall. This will cause the barrel to bounce back and hit the distracted Koin, defeating him, as well as giving the Kongs the DK Coin.

Trivia

  • On some versions of Donkey Kong Country 3 (such as the American version), it is possible to bypass the toboggan by throwing Dixie above the Blast Barrel above the toboggan. However, in other versions (such as the European version), this is impossible, since there are two Blast Barrels above the toboggan instead of one.
