The first appearance of Slippas is in Donkey Kong Country where they are uncommon, but basic enemies. They appear most in cave levels, and can easily be defeated by being jumped on. Slippas later appear in the Game Boy game, Donkey Kong Land, where they are much more common than in the game's SNES counterpart. They are essentially the same enemies as they are in Donkey Kong Country. Slippas are mostly found in mines, caves and occasionally factories. They are sometimes found coming out of baskets.

In Riggin' Rumble, however, they can be found climbing down ropes until they fall from the bottom. In this case, they are absolutely invincible; even rolling into the falling Slippa will result in the Kong talking damage instead of the snake.

In Riggin' Rumble and Skyscraper Caper, Slippas slither down the ropes until they reach the bottom. These Slippas can only be defeated by a thrown barrel.
Like most enemies, Slippas attempt to attack Donkey or Diddy by charging into them. However, the Kongs can jump on or roll over a Slippa to defeat it. Sometimes Oil Drums and other types of barrels will continually spawn an endless number of Slippas until destroyed.

Slippas[1] are snake enemies which appear in Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land. They are red with black stripes and resemble the real world coral snake.

History[edit]

In their debut appearance, Donkey Kong Country, Slippas appear in four levels: Reptile Rumble, Millstone Mayhem, Elevator Antics, and Misty Mine; all of them are subterranean except Millstone Mayhem. Slippas move by quickly slithering on the ground. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong can defeat Slippas by using any attack, including rolling, jumping, or throwing a barrel at them. When a Slippa is defeated, it makes a hissing noise. In Misty Mine, there are some black drums that release an indefinite number of Slippas.

In the boss level Boss Dumb Drum, Slippas are the second pair of enemies that Dumb Drum releases.

In the Game Boy Advance version, the Kongs can obtain a photograph of Slippa by rolling into three of them in a row.

Donkey Kong Country novel[edit]

A single Slippa appears as a minor antagonist in the Donkey Kong Country novel. As the Kongs explore the Abandoned Mines, Slippa and Army ambush the group. Slippa proclaims that "thessse minesss are oursss" and attempts to attack Diddy, but Diddy stomps him with a double jump. Slippa then escapes back into the darkness.

Donkey Kong Land[edit]

Donkey Kong encounters Slippas slithering down ropes in Riggin' Rumble

Slippas reappear in Donkey Kong Land, where they have slightly different role than in Donkey Kong Country. They appear in many more levels and in a wider variety of environments, including mines, jungles, and skyscrapers. Slippas sometimes pop out of baskets.

In Riggin' Rumble and Skyscraper Caper, Slippas slither down the ropes until they reach the bottom. These Slippas can only be defeated by a thrown barrel.

Slippas appear in fifteen levels:
