Template:DKClevelbox Bobbing Barrel Brawl is the tenth level of the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance game, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is also the fifth area of the Kremwood Forest.

For most of this riverside level, the Kongs will be playing as Ellie the Elephant. Nibblas, in their debut, lurk in most bodies of water around the level, trying to attack the Animal Buddy. They can not be defeated, so Ellie will have have to avoid them throughout the whole level. However, the Nibblas are very fast, and they can attack the elephant as soon as she touches the water. Therefore, she will have to use the many barrels scattered around the level and throw them into the water. The barrels will float on the water's surface, allowing Ellie to cross the lakes and rivers with ease, away from the restless Nibblas. In this level, Ellie can also suck up water to shoot at her enemies. These enemies include green Buzzes, who appear all around the level, getting in the hero's way. Other enemies in this rather early level include Krimps, Booty Birds, and Knik-Knaks.

Level Layout

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs will see a Buzz and a Booty Bird to move past, as well as a Blast Barrel. The barrel can be used to shoot them to an Animal Barrel. This barrel will turn them into Ellie, who will come up to some more enemies as she heads towards the first river. In the river, Ellie will find two floating barrels to use to dodge the Nibbla in the water, though the second barrel will be blocked off by a green Buzz. Sucking up water, she can shoot large drops of water at the enemy to defeat it, creating a pathway over the rest of the river. On the other side, she will find the letter O, as well as another body of water. The water will consist of a Nibbla, as well as a Steel Barrel floating in the water. Another barrel can be found in the water if she is to attack the Booty Bird nearby. If the young elephant decides to continue over the river, she will find another Blast Barrel. The barrel will blast her over another body of water. Nearing the area where she will land, she will find another lake. If she chooses to cross the lake, with the help of some barrels bobbing out of the water, she will find two red Buzzes in her path. The Animal Buddy will need to suck the nearby TNT Barrel towards her to be able to defeat them. Heading on, Ellie will find another small body of water. Once she crosses it with some more barrel platforms, she will need to climb up some stair-like platforms. Jumping down from the top area will take her to a pathway leading to the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, Ellie will find a banana trail leading into a safe body of water, Nibbla-free. She should travel to the other side of the pool to find a few Steel Barrels. They should be used to make platforms over the water to the right, allowing the elephant to cross the area safely. After she crosses the lake and gets the letter N, she will have to continue and travel past a lone Buzz to find another pool of water. It must be crossed by using a few floating Steel Barrels, one of the barrels coming from a nearby Booty Bird. After Ellie crosses the enemy-free body of water after this, she will notice another pool nearby. Throwing a Steel Barrel into the water, she will be able to cross the pool and continue. The creature will soon find herself traveling along a long pathway, approaching a trail of bananas. She should follow it to land on a floating barrel in a large body of water. Around the barrel, the hero will find another barrel, which she should use to cross the lake, though while dodging a Buzz. She will then find herself heading down a plain pathway, until she encounter two more Buzzes in her way. She should suck up the barrel under them and defeat the green Buzz with the barrel to be able to progress. If Ellie does choose to travel farther, she will find the letter G, as well as another pool of water. With the barrels in this pool, she should hop over the parts of the water and head down the rest of the path, finding a No Animal Sign. It will turn her back into the Kongs, who will find a flagpole nearby. Raising its flag will end the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Shortly after the letter O, Ellie will shoot over a body of water through a Blast Barrel. Turning around once she gets on land, she will find a Booty Bird above a red Buzz, guarding the Bonus Barrel. She should hit the Booty Bird with her water shooting ability, causing it to flee and drop a TNT Barrel. This will open a clear path into the Bonus Barrel. The barrel can take her into a Bonus Level, where she will need to throw some barrels into the water to create a pathway over a small lake. A Nibbla can attack her if she touches the water, forcing her out of the stage. At the end of the level, the hero can find a Bonus Coin.
  • Not too long after the letter N, Ellie will enter a safe pool of water. At the bottom of this pool will be a Bonus Barrel. However, Ellie is unable to swim underwater, so she will have no way of getting to it at the time. So, the hero will need to head a little father over the water to meet some Knik-Knaks walking on land. She should not defeat them, and simply just wait for them to take flight over the pool of water found before. Once they stop in mid-air, she should bounce on them and head above the underwater Bonus Barrel while airborne. The elephant will then land in the water and force herself into the barrel. This special barrel will take her into a Bonus Level, where she will need to cross another lake with some floating barrels, though while collecting stars. If she collects all of the stars, she will find a Bonus Coin at the end of the stage.

DK Coin

  • Just before the Star Barrel, Ellie will come up to the Koin, who will have the DK Coin. She will have to defeat him to get the coin, however, this will not be easy, as none of her attacks can actually beat him. So, she will have to use a Steel Barrel, found to the left under a few Buzzes, to attack. If she stands on the foe with the barrel, the Koin will put his attention on her. At that time, the elephant should throw the barrel at the nearest wall. It will bounce back and hit the enemy, defeating him and giving Ellie the DK Coin.

Warp Barrel

  • Right after the TNT Booty Bird, Kiddy must throw Dixie up into the air, leading the Kongs into a Warp Barrel, which will bring them to the end of the level.

Trivia

  • This level has the only occurrence of red Knik-Knaks walking on the ground.
