Blue's name perfectly describes his character because he is usually depressed (that is, he constantly "has the blues"), which is reflected in the song that plays when the player enters his hut: it is a slowed-down, downtrodden version of the usual Brothers Bear theme. The reason why he is depressed when Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong first meet him is because almost all of his brothers forgot about his birthday. The only Brothers Bear that remembered was Blizzard, but he lives too far from Blue to deliver his birthday present.

If the Kongs deliver the Present to Blue, he will cheer up and end up giving them his present, which is a Bowling Ball, as he has no use for it. Regardless, he will still be pleased that he at least received a gift.
Blue's name is derived from the word "blue". In the Game Boy Advance version, Blue had his sprite redesigned, and he also wears a red-striped party hat.

When the Kongs give the Bowling Ball to Bazooka, he will allow Kiddy and Dixie to reach a hidden Banana Bird Cave.

Blue is one of the Brothers Bear in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. He lives inside his own beach house right beyond the entrance of Cotton Top Cove. Blue is sad because nobody remembered his birthday, and to reflect his mood, the Brothers Bear theme is slowed down in his hut. However, is later revealed that Blizzard did remember Blue's birthday and even got him a present, but because the two live so far away from one another, Blizzard asks Dixie and Kiddy Kong to deliver it on his behalf. When Dixie and Kiddy go back to Blue's Beach Hut with the present, Blue cheers up and happily unwraps it, and the background music speeds up. The present contains a bowling ball, which Blue does not have any use for, so he allows the Kongs to keep it. Afterwards, the Brothers Bear theme plays normally whenever Blue is revisited.

Blue's name is derived from the word "blue". In his case, this refers to two things: Blue constantly "has the blues", as his main characteristic is feeling discouraged and sad, and his fur color is blue. In his artwork and Dixie Kong's Photo Album picture, Blue is seen holding a harmonica, another reflection of his sadness. In the Game Boy Advance version, Blue had his sprite redesigned, and he also wears a red-striped party hat.
