Template:Level Tundra Blunda is the seventeenth level in Donkey Kong Land III. Located in the east of Blackforest Plateau, in the snowy foothills of a mountain range, it is the fifth level in this area.

To complete this level, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must cross a large snowfield, home to several tribes of Lemguins. Indeed, these sharp-billed penguins have dug many holes in the tundra, from which they leap out to attack the Kongs. In addition, Dixie and Kiddy will have to face gangs of Skiddas and Krimps. Other enemies, Knockas, are also especially dangerous in this level, since the icy, slippery ground allows them to knock the Kongs back farther than in other areas. Knik-Knaks also populate this snowfield.

Noticeably, Tundra Blunda is this game's equivalent to Lemguin Lunge from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble.

Level Layout

When the level begins, the Kongs will head down a small slope to find the letter K. While walking down the pathway at this point, they will spot numerous enemies, and also have to jump over a few snow-bound houses. After passing many Skiddas and Krimps, they will make their way down another slope and cross a small gap. Shortly after that, they will be greeted by the first group of Lemguins. The heroes will have to dodge the penguin-like enemies and head over a snow capped house. Once they pass a small gap, they will need to make their way up the path, getting over a few small chasms and hopping over some house tops. Eventually, they will pass a second tribe of Lemguins to find the Star Barrel.

About halfway through the level, the group will have to cross a large gap by bouncing on some Knik-Knacs and then avoid more Lemguins. Shortly after that, they will be up to the challenge of passing two Knockas and then jumping over small alcoves in the ground. One of these alcoves will have the letter N in it. At that point, they will bounce on some more Knik-Knacs to cross another abyss and avoid yet another Lemguin tribe. Walking down a small slope will take the Kongs to the letter G, where they will have to head up another small slope and jump over some more Lemguins. After traveling over a rather plain path for a while, they will find a flagpole. One touch of the pole will end the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • At the very start of the level, the monkeys should head backwards and pass a Knocka to find a house top. If they jump upwards on the center of it, they will land in a hidden Bonus Barrel. It will take them to a Bonus Level, where they will need to run through the area and defeat some Buzzes with barrels. Once all the foes are defeated, a Bonus Coin will appear at the end of the stage.
  • A while after the letter K, the heroes will find a lone Knik-Knak floating in the air. If they jump on it, the impact will shoot them into the air, where they will need to move to the left in. If they land in the correct area airborne, they will land in a hidden barrel. This barrel will shoot them into a Bonus Barrel, leading to a Bonus Level. There, they apes will have to quickly run through an area full of slippery hills. On their journey, they will need to watch out for some dangerous Lemguins. At the end of the stage, they will find the Bonus Coin.

DK Coin

  • At the end of the level, the heroes will have to jump over the flagpole to find the Koin with the DK Coin. To defeat the odd Kremling, they will need to pick up a nearby steel keg and stand on him. While on the foe's strong shield, they should throw the keg at the nearest wall. It will then bounce back and hit the distracted Koin. This will beat the enemy, thus giving the monkeys the DK Coin.

Trivia

  • "Blunda" is a modified orthograph for "Blunder". The word was probably changed so that it would rhyme with "Tundra".
  • Since the song "Frosty Frolics" from Donkey Kong Country 3 was not included in this Game Boy sequel, the song "Cascade Capers", used in waterfall levels, also plays in "Tundra Blunda".
