“Clambo spits pearls at you when you swim past.”
Donkey Kong Country manual, page 30
A Clambo next to a "G" letter in the Game Boy Color version of Donkey Kong Country.

Clambos[1] (known as Ms. Clamities[2] during the development of their debut game) are clams with eyes and long tongues, found underwater in Donkey Kong Country. They lie on the floor, invulnerable to all attacks. Clambos attack by spitting one to five pearls at Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong. While Clambos make their first Donkey Kong Country appearance in the "Coral Capers" level, they are the main threat of the subsequent underwater level, "Clam City".

Clambos also appear in Donkey Kong Land. However, instead of shooting pearls, they are constantly opening and closing their spacey mantles, which makes them hard to avoid. Donkey Kong Land also stars a notable Clambo, the Giant Clam, as the boss of the second world, Kremlantis. Unlike its smaller brethren, this colossal Clambo is capable of moving around in the water, having the ability to aim and shoot pearls at the Kongs at the same time.

Some Clambos can be seen in the Club Nintendo comic "Donkey Kong Country." One of them bites a Chomps which is trying to attack Diddy and Donkey Kong, in order to attack the Kongs itself.
