Overview

Fish Food Frenzy
The Nibbla of Fish Food Frenzy

Nibblas are similar to Snapjaws from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Nibblas are entirely invulnerable to attack, and they swim through the water quickly, following Dixie and Kiddy around a level. If the Kongs fall into the water, the Nibbla charges into them and bites the lead Kong, causing the player to lose that Kong. One difference that Nibblas have from Snapjaws is that they cannot swim through walls.

Nibblas appear in three levels: Bobbing Barrel Brawl, Kreeping Klasps, and Fish Food Frenzy. In the Game Boy Advance remake, Nibblas are also in the Pacifica level Stormy Seas and the Kaos Kore level Lightning Lookout.

In Fish Food Frenzy, there is a unique, blue Nibbla that follows behind the Kongs throughout the level, eating the underwater enemies in their path. The Nibbla changes color depending on its mood. When it is blue, the Nibbla is happy. The Nibbla must eat Kocos along the way to keep a happy mood or else it gradually worsens; if the Nibbla is purple, it starts to frown, if the Nibbla is light pink, it starts showing its fangs, and if the Nibbla turns bright red, it swiftly bites the lead Kong and turns back to light pink. The Kongs must avoid Lurchins because Nibbla's mood worsens from eating them, although there is Lurchin near the end of the level guarding the path to a Bonus Barrel. A No Animal Sign of Nibbla appears at the end of Fish Food Frenzy. It is different from those of the Animal Friends, as Nibbla does not cross and stays behind; therefore, the Kongs cannot get a prize from Nibbla.

In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, a Nibbla is categorized under the Aquatic Attackers enemy class.
