Template:Levelbox Lakeside Limbo is the first level of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! It is located in Lake Orangatanga.

This level takes place on a series of boardwalks hanging over a large body of water. As the first level in the game, Lakeside Limbo does not feature any unique obstacles or hazards, so the Kongs should have no trouble at all making their way to the end of the stage. There are a few Sneeks and Kobbles throughout the area, as well as a single Booty Bird, although they shouldn't give the Kongs much of a problem either, as they can be defeated with a simple jump. The apes can also ride Ellie the Elephant, in her debut, in the later half of the level.

Level layout

At the beginning of the level, the apes find themselves under a small tunnel. One more tunnel supported by large stilts is ahead that they must go through. If they travel farther, they head along a large set of boardwalks over the lake, meeting several Sneeks, a barrel, and the letter K on the way. After climbing up a small ledge nearby, they pass the level's first Kobble as they approach a formation of bananas creating the letter R. Soon, the apes come up to some tightropes. On the boards below the rope, they encounter the level's Koin, as well as the letter O under another short tightrope. If they choose to continue from this point, they head down the straight pathway to some Kobbles in a small alcove. They can simply get over these enemies by using the tightrope above them. Once they pass these enemies, they find a tunnel with a Star Barrel on the other side of it.

About halfway into the level, the Kongs can find a DK Barrel and a large gap of water between to areas of the wharf. To continue, they have to swim through the water and jump out onto another set of boardwalks. There, they can find a Kobble and a small gap with the letter N above it. Near this, they can find a mostly-flat pathway leading to a ledge. Jumping off of this ledge causes the primates to land on a crate with Ellie in it. They can free the elephant and continue, riding on her. Near Ellie's crate, the group meets a Booty Bird flying in the air that they can defeat with a nearby barrel to earn the letter G. After climbing over a raised piece of the boards, they move along a flat surface and pass a lone Kobble to find a No Animal Sign. It makes Ellie disappear once she passes it. Not too far from this sign, the heroes can discover a Level Flag. Raising the flag ends the level.

K-O-N-G Letters

The Koin and the Letter O
  • K: The letter K floats in the air after the first Sneek.
  • O: Shortly after passing the first DK Barrel, the heroes enter an area with some ropes and the level's Koin. The letter O hovers under the lowest rope, which is tied above a Steel Keg.
  • N: After the Kongs cross the first water area from the Star Barrel, they find the letter N above a small gap.
  • G: Near the end of the level, the Kongs can discover a Booty Bird that they must defeat to earn the letter G.

DK Coin

  • Right under the letter O, the apes are able to find the level's Koin, as well as a Steel Keg. The Koin has the DK Coin, but does not give it up without a fight. The Kongs need to pick up the Steel Barrel and stand on the foe's shield. This makes the enemy put his attention on the heroes above him, who should then throw the Steel Barrel at a wall. The object then bounces off of the wall and hits the distracted Koin in the side, defeating him. This gives the apes the DK Coin.

Bonus Levels

  • The first Bonus Barrel in the game can be accessed by throwing Kiddy Kong onto a crack located right before the first Kobble in the game. The barrel leads the Kongs into a Bonus Level, which involves them collecting fifty stars in under twenty seconds. Once all of the stars are collected, a Bonus Coin appears near the monkeys.
  • The second Bonus Barrel is found right after the letter N. To the left of the boards the N is over, there is an open area under the next boards that the Kongs can swim through. They can merely jump into the barrel above the water, although they can pass it to get an Extra Life Balloon and a couple of Bear Coins. This Bonus Barrel takes the primates, as usual, into a Bonus Level, which involves them collecting 15 Green Bananas by using a rope with a time limit of 30 seconds. Once enough bananas are collected, a Bonus Coin appears nearby.
