Gloomy Gulch, rarely named Haunted Forest, is the fifth world in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is a haunted area set in a dilapidated ghost town set between dark, spooky woods, with ghostly inhabitants such as Kloaks. The world takes place between Krazy Kremland and K. Rool's Keep, but in Donkey Kong Land 2, the standalone Klubba's Kiosk appears to the left of it on the Crocodile Isle map. In the official German guide for the game, it is implied that the forest is feared even by the Kremling pirates. A majority of Gloomy Gulch takes place in spooky woods, but there is also a haunted house with Kackles, nestled in a clearing near the start, and a nearby Zinger hive.

Levels

The level names in Donkey Kong Land 2 are mostly the same as in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, and both games have five levels and a boss level:

  Ghostly Grove
  The first level, Ghostly Grove involves Diddy and Dixie having to travel through a dense forest, using the assistance of Ropes along the way.

  Haunted Hall
  The second level, Haunted Hall takes place in an abandoned library, where the heroes must ride a Roller Coaster to the end. There are a few sections where the Kongs have to avoid a Kackle chasing them, by touching Plus Barrels to increase a timer associated to when the Kackle attacks them while avoiding Minus Barrels, which decrease the timer.

  Gusty Glade
  The third level, Gusty Glade is a dense forest level featuring strong winds that can both help and interfere with Diddy and Dixie making their way through the level. Rattly can optionally be freed from an animal crate to assist the Kongs through part of the level.

  Parrot Chute Panic
  The fourth level, Parrot Chute Panic takes place inside a Zinger hive, which the Kongs can go through by descending with the assistance of several Quawks along the way.

  Web Woods
  The fifth level, Web Woods takes place in a dense forest covered in mist, though the main distinction is that the player takes control of Squitter for nearly the entire level.

  Boss level: Kreepy Krow
  The boss level, Kreepy Krow involves the Kongs fighting the world boss of the same name on a three-floored crow's nest.

Donkey Kong Land 2

• 

  Ghostly Grove
  The first level, Ghostly Grove has Diddy and Dixie going through a haunted forest and utilizing ropes.

  Krazy Koaster
  The second level, Krazy Koaster takes place in a regular roller coaster area, replacing Haunted Hall from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

  Gusty Glade
  The third level, Gusty Glade has strong wind alternately blowing left and right every few seconds, and progressing requires taking advantage of the wind direction. Rattly can be transformed into for the first half of the level.

  Parrot Chute Panic
  The fourth level, Parrot Chute Panic involves Quawks having to descend to the bottom while avoiding Zingers. There are brief sections where Quawks revert back into Diddy and Dixie.

  Web Woods
  The fifth level, Web Woods involves Squitter having to use web platforms to travel through the level.

• 

  Boss level: Kreepy Krow
  The boss level, Kreepy Krow is where the Kongs fight the boss of the same name.

Rool's Keep passes though the ghost town of Gloomy Gulch, and you'll be up to your hips in ghosties, beasties and bogles. Even the ropes seen to be fickle phantoms, fading in and out of existence as you swing across vast chasms. Don't expect any help from the sheriff as you wander through town, since he's been put six feet under like everyone else! Aye! Ahr! Argh-gug-gh!
