Template:Level Buzzer Barrage is the twenty-sixth level in the third game in the Donkey Kong Country series, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. It is also the first area of Razor Ridge and the first cavern level.

In this cavern level, the Kongs will turn into Quawks the Parrot, who will aid them in flying through the area. Unfortunately, Quawks can not shoot eggs like the similar Animal Buddy, Squawks, causing quite a challenge throughout the level. To make matters worse, the stage is filled with many Buzzes, who will block the parrot's way. Because he is unable to shoot the eggs, Quawks will have no choice but to use the level's many barrels, scattered all over the place. Solving some minor puzzles and defeating the Buzzes, the bird should be able to complete the level safely. Though Buzzes are the main enemy here, Kopters, making their debut and Booty Birds also appear very often to stop the Kongs' victory.

Level Layout

At the start of the level, the Kongs will jump into an Animal Barrel to turn into Quawks. Quawks should then fly through the area and throw a nearby barrel at a Buzz blocking his path. Once the enemy is defeated, the parrot will travel through more of the cavern, avoiding many Kopters. He will soon descend into a small gap at the end of the area and hover west. After making a small U turn around the area, he will find a barrel. Picking it up, he should carry it to a group of enemies, consisting of three red Buzzes and a Booty Bird. He will need to let the barrel roll under the Buzzes and hit the Booty Bird, revealing the letter O. Farther on, Quawks will pass more Kopters and use another barrel to defeat a lone, green Buzz under a group of three red Buzzes. After the enemy is beat, a pathway to the next area will open. Going into this area, the parrot will make his way between two Kopters as he falls into a small gap. On the other end of the gap, he will fly east through more of the rocky cave to find another gap in the ceiling. He should follow a Kopter through the gap and pass a lone Buzz to enter a wide area full of Kopters. Passing the Kopters will take Quawks to the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, Quawks will enter a wide area full of several Buzzes. After he goes around each enemy, he will move through a small passageway and fly to the far-right part of the area to spot a small gap again. He should sneak through the small space and move into a small alcove to dodge a Kopter and find the letter N. Farther on, the Animal Buddy will make his way out of the space and travel through another open area. Once he heads upwards between the rocky walls, he will find a barrel to the right. He should carry it to a wall of three green Buzzes. Defeating one of the wasps with the barrel, Quawks should find his way past the Buzzes and spy another barrel. If he carries it past a Kopter, he will notice a green Buzz blocking his path. The parrot will have to beat the Buzz with the barrel and fall downwards, where he will find a wide, open space, along with a barrel. He should carry the barrel between two Kopters in a tight gap and fly to another Buzz blocking his path. Once he attacks the foe with the barrel, the bird will pass a DK Barrel and continue through a small, U shaped pathway. After he gets through this pathway, he will find another barrel nearby. Dropping the barrel between some red Buzzes, the barrel will roll down the rocky surface into a lone green Buzz, defeating it. This will open another passage for the bird to fly into. When the parrot exits the long, tube-like pathway he entered, he will find another barrel farther below him. It should be used to defeat a wall of green Buzzes. If the Animal Buddy manages to pass these enemies, he will hover through another area full of many Kopters. He will have to avoid them all and move through a second U shaped pathway to find the next barrel. If the bird drops it past a moving, red Buzz, the barrel will roll into another green Buzz, creating another opening. Once Quawks makes his way through this opening, he will pass a No Animal Sign, turning him back into the Kongs. The Kongs will then need to pass a lone Kopter to find a flagpole. If they raise the pole's flag, the level will end.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • At the beginning of the level, the heroes will turn into Quawks and fly east. Quawks will need to fly through the long cavern until he finds a wide passageway leading downwards. Instead of going through it, he should continue east to find a couple of Buzzes. Defeating the green Buzz with a barrel, the bird should hover down into the gap below and find a Bonus Barrel. The barrel will take him into a Bonus Level, where he will use barrels to beat seven Buzzes. Once all the Buzzes are gone, a Bonus Coin will appear in the top right-hand corner of the area.
  • At the end of the level, the heroes will notice a Kopter flying in and out of a few gaps in the ceiling. When the enemy hovers over to the left gap, they should bounce on his helmet and fly upwards with him. They will be taken to a Bonus Barrel as they move upwards with the Kopter. The barrel will lead them into the next Bonus Level, where they will bounce on top of another Kopter to reach many stars. Once all the stars are collected, a Bonus Coin will appear nearby.

DK Coin

  • Shortly after the Star Barrel, Quawks will see a Koin with the DK Coin. The Koin will need to be defeated to give up his DK Coin, though the bird will not have any attacks worthy of doing so. So, he should fly upwards and move between two Kopters in a small alcove to find a steel barrel. Quawks will need to pick up the barrel and head back to the Koin after that, and then drop the barrel to the left of the enemy. The barrel will roll into the Kremling as the parrot flies above the distracted Koin. This will knock him out, thus give Quawks and the Kongs the DK Coin.
