Template:Level Footloose Falls is the twentieth level in Donkey Kong Land III. This large waterfall, which connects the Upper and Lower Ape Lakes, draws its name from the friable rocks - possibly sandstone - that can be found all over the place. To reach the top of the cascade, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong will have to keep on their toes, as the rocky platforms tend to crumble when they step on them. This new hazard replaces the falling barrels that were seen in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (in levels such as Barrel Drop Bounce).

Near the beginning of the level, the Kongs will encounter an Animal Barrel which, upon being broken, releases their friend Ellie. The young elephant makes short work of Buzzes, Sneeks, Bristles and Kobbles by spraying water at them, but she is soon stopped by a No Animal Sign. The Kongs will then take over.

A few Rocket Barrels and Tracker Barrels can be found as well, allowing Dixie and Kiddy to reach higher ledges. However, since the waterfall is tall and large, the Kongs will often have to choose between multiple paths. Following the Banana arrows is the best way to avoid dead ends, but finding both Bonus Barrels may require some more exploration.

The Footloose Falls are infested with various members of the Kremling Krew: Buzzes, Bristles, Sneeks, Kobbles, Kopters, Re-Koils, Krumples and even a single Booty Bird can all be found in this level.

Trivia

  • Since the next level, Deep Reef Grief, takes place in the depths of the Lower Ape Lake, it can be surprising to notice that the Kongs actually have to reach the top of the waterfall in order to proceed further.
  • The crumbling rocks, prominently featured in Footloose Falls, appear in the second Bonus area in Jungle Jeopardy, which is the previous level.
  • Footloose Falls is this game's equivalent of "Barrel Drop Bounce" from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble
