Chomps
Chomps are aggressive, large sharks that swim around the submerged levels of Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land. They are rather large, and move slow enough for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to catch up to it. Chomps can only be defeated by using Enguarde the Swordfish.
In the Club Nintendo comic "Donkey Kong Country," two Chomps are try to attack Diddy and Donkey Kong.
Several Chomps can be seen swimming around in the background of the trailer for the apparently canceled game, Donkey Kong Racing. It is possible that Chomps were going to be one of the rideable creatures in this game seeing as another enemy species, Zingers were seen to be rideable.
In Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, a shark resembling a Chomps, though more manic and vicious looking, appears in an underwater race course as an obstacle.

- A shark named Snacker from the game Banjo-Kazooie resembles a large Chomps.
- Chomps have a resemblance to Sushies, shark-like enemies from the Mario (series) series.
- Chomps' make a small appearance in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest attacking Kaptain K. Rool after Donkey Kong punches him into their waters outside Crocodile Isle.
- In Donkey Kong Country animated series Chomps did not appear in the anime, but they were mention by Cranky and Skurvy as sharks.
