The Floating Jump (sometimes known as the Floaty Jump) is a move primarily used by Princess Peach.

The Floating Jump first appears in Super Mario Bros. 2, where the player can hold the jump button during a jump to have Peach vertically hover in place briefly. This ability was the result of Super Mario Bros. 2 being a repurposed version of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, with Peach inheriting Lina's abilities, including her jump. The move returns in the Super Smash Bros. series (as of Super Smash Bros. Melee, Peach's debut in that series) and Super Mario 3D World with the same properties.

In Super Mario Run, the move works differently, as Peach slowly descends for as long as the screen is held instead of briefly hovering.

In later games, such as Super Princess Peach, Yoshi's Island DS, and Super Paper Mario, Peach can use her parasol to float, though in the latter two games, she still slowly descends. She also uses her parasol as her up special move in the Super Smash Bros. series, where it also slows her fall. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this move, as well as the parasol, is also present for Daisy, and works in the same fashion as Peach's, due to her being an Echo Fighter of Peach.

The Floating Jump also appears in Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, where it appears as Mini Peach's special move. It is performed whenever the toy walks off a platform or a ledge, making it capable of floating across large gaps. This grants Mini Peach access to areas other Minis cannot reach. The move needs to be executed in Level 6 to access Mini Peach's assigned amiibo Door by removing a Long Spring that leads to it. The door leads to Mini Peach's set of levels, Balloon Float Castle, where it makes extensive use of this ability.

In Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Peach performs this jump in her unlock cutscene, and when jumping off high ground and entering a new world or MegaDragonBowser's arena if she is in the party. In the Nintendo Switch version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Funky Kong can perform this move using his surfboard.

In New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Toadette can use this move as Peachette; it works exactly like how Peach's does in Super Mario Run.

In The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Peach performs a Floating Jump as she descends from the Goal Pole of the Training Course.

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Peach does not naturally have access to the Floating Jump. However, all playable characters can equip the Parachute Cap badge, which functions similarly to Peach's Floating Jump from Super Mario Run but uses a cap instead.
