Tomatoes[1] are large red tomatoes with sinister looking faces. Tomatoes appear in Donkey Kong 64.
Several Tomatoes can be found in the area near Funky's Store in the area Fungi Forest at night. If one of the Kongs comes too close to a Tomato, it will lunge at them and damage them. The Kongs cannot even fight back as the attacks cannot harm the evil fruit. In order to combat the Tomatoes, Chunky Kong must jump into a nearby Hunky Chunky Barrel to become Hunky Chunky.
When Hunky Chunky approaches the Tomatoes, the Worm in an apple will begin speaking to him; it will tell him that its friends were eaten by these tomatoes and that it is next unless someone helps it. Chunky must jump on the Tomatoes to defeat them. After he has done this, he can pick up the worm and its apple and take it to the part of Fungi Forest with the giant clock-tree in it. Here, Chunky can drop the worm off on a piece of ground with a picture of an apple on it. After this, he will gain a Golden Banana for his troubles.

- The tomatoes are the only enemies in Donkey Kong 64 to be immune to the soundwaves from a musical instrument.
