Tomatoes are large red tomatoes with sinister looking faces. Tomatoes appear in Donkey Kong 64. The tomatoes are the only enemies in Donkey Kong 64 who are immune to the Kong' musical instrument moves.
Several Tomatoes can be found in the area near Funky's Store in the area Fungi Forest at night. If the player comes too close to a Tomato, it will lunge at them and damage them. The player cannot fight back as attacks cannot harm tomatoes. In order to defeat tomatoes, the player as Chunky Kong must jump into a Hunky Chunky Barrel to become Hunky Chunky.
When the player as Hunky Chunky approaches the Tomatoes, the Worm starts speaking to them, saying that all of its friends were eaten by the Tomatoes and that it could also be eaten unless the player defeats the tomatoes.
