Redwood Rampage is the eighteenth level in Donkey Kong Land III. It is the sixth and last level of Blackforest Plateau, where it is located in the eastern woods. Redwood Rampage takes place within a series of large trees. The first half is similar to Minky Mischief, as there are ropes to climb and Minkys that throw acorns at Dixie and Kiddy. The Kongs must avoid many Buzzes, Bristles, and Sneeks along the way. They can also stand on Nids which take them up to higher areas; the first Nid jumps up to a branch with an Extra Life Balloon. Like Minky Mischief, during the second half, the Kongs must enter an Animal Barrel to transform into Squawks, who must continue flying through the hollow trees and spit coconuts at Buzzes blocking the path.

At the beginning of the level, the heroes make their way across a small branch and down a hollow tree trunk. After passing over another branch and jumping over a Buzz, the heroes climb down a short rope and continue down a long trunk by using small platforms jutting out of its sides. Once the apes meet a Nid, they should head to the nearest rope and climb downwards, avoiding a few Buzzes. At the bottom of the trunk, Dixie and Kiddy walk over a small branch to enter the next tree. While hopping up some platforms to reach the top of the trunk, they should watch out for some Sneeks and Buzzes. After meeting another Nid, they travel to the right and drop down from several branches to find a rope on another tree. Avoiding many Minkys, they should use the rope to climb to the top of the long trunk. Soon, they can make their way onto a branch, supporting the Star Barrel.

To complete this level, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must make their way through a forest of giant trees, whose trunks are hollow for the most part, and have a unique red hue. They can stand on bark platforms and branches to navigate this vegetal maze, but unfortunately for them, most trees are overrun with swarms of Buzzes. Many Nids also populate the woods, and in several instances, they will unwillingly help the Kongs reach high platforms. In the second half of the level, Dixie and Kiddy will find their friend, Squawks the Parrot, in an Animal Barrel. The player will control the parrot until the end flag, flying up and down the trunks while spitting eggs at Buzzes, Sneeks and Bristles. After completing the level, Dixie and Kiddy will venture deep into the eastern part of the forest to confront Arich.
About halfway through the level, the group climbs up a few branches to find an Animal Barrel. The barrel turns them into Squawks. Squawks should then hover down the long tree trunk and fly to the first right. He can find the letter G there, and then fly around many platforms to reach the top of the area. There, the parrot can find a No Animal Sign. If he crosses the sign, he turns back into the Kongs. After that happens, the no longer transformed apes should head over to the End of Level Flag.

Redwood Rampage is very similar to the first tree level, Minky Mischief. They both feature the same enemies and Squawks takes over from the midway point to the end in them. However, Redwood Rampage is, as one would expect, harder and much more labyrinthine.

There, they will need to climb up a long trunk on a rope while avoiding several Minkies. At the top of the area, they will have to walk along a nearby branch and head into another trunk. *After ending up in the fork in the road where they can head either down the main path or to the first Bonus Barrel, the Kongs will have to walk across a branch to their right and climb down a rope. At the bottom of the trunk, they will need to cross a nearby branch again and climb upwards through the trunk. Soon, they will meet a Nid. Riding on the trampoline creature, they will be lead to another Nid. This Nid will take them to a series of branches, where they will find a steel keg. With the keg, they should head over to the Koin, who will have the DK Coin, on the branch below and stand on him. Though the Kremling's shield would normally protect him from all attacks, the monkeys will be able to throw the barrel at the nearest wall, causing it to bounce back. The keg will then bounce back and hit the distracted foe. This will defeat him, thus giving the heroes the DK Coin.

<< Directory of levels >>

Layout[edit]
