Clinging[1] onto certain surfaces is one of Donkey Kong's (and Diddy Kong's in co-op play) moves in Donkey Kong Country Returns and the 3DS remake. When the player jumps at grass that is growing out of the ceiling or wall and hold Nunchuk Z Button or B Button, Donkey Kong will cling onto the grass. While clinging, Donkey Kong can climb up walls and across ceilings in order to avoid obstacles such as enemies or pits. Ground Pounding is still possible while clinging onto grass. Clinging is also used in order to swing across vines or chains.

The move returns in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, acting the same and all playable characters can use it.
