Template:Rename Template:Character-infobox Wild Sting[citation needed], or Manta Ray[1], is a flying stingray[2] and the first boss of Donkey Kong Land. He appears in Gangplank Galleon Ahoy! in the end boss level, Wild Sting Fling. His name is likely inspired by the phrase Wild Thing.
Wild Sting attacks by flying back-and-forth across the screen, occasionally swooping down at Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong. During this, the Kong must jump onto Wild Sting to attack it. For each hit, Wild Sting moves around faster and in a less predictable pattern. It only turns around after going off-screen. Wild Sting gets defeated upon taking seven hits.
Wild Sting resembles the Flotsams from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, and could be the inspiration for them.
