Template:Worldbox Gangplank Galleon Ahoy! is the starting area the Kongs venture through in Donkey Kong Land. The name of this world indicates that the Kremling ship, Gangplank Galleon, is somewhere near.
Aside from traveling on the coast of Donkey Kong Island, which consists of wild jungles and icy summits, the heroes also need to pass through Gangplank Galleon, anchored on the shore. There is a somewhat contrast between the jungle levels and the snowy levels, whereas jungles have a tropical climate, and the snow canyons are frozen. Likewise, there is a slight difference between the fauna of the jungle levels and the fauna in the icy levels: the jungle ones involve Slippas, which are snakes - and thus, they prefer warmer areas -, and the icy ones include Hogwashes, flying pigs commonly found at high altitudes.
Gangplank Galleon returns from Donkey Kong Country. This time, not only that it hosts a boss fight in a level with a stingray fish, called Wild Sting, but it also features two other levels. The first one has the Kongs climbing the masts of the ship, heading towards the top. The second one involves the primates lumbering on the perilous deck of Gangplank Galleon. Because it is a Kremling ship, it is obvious that only baddies populate it, and these are Kritters, Klaptraps, Gnawties, Mini Neckies, Slippas, Hogwashes, and lots of Zingers.

- Gangplank Galleon Ahoy! is the world with the most levels in Donkey Kong Land. It has nine levels, while the other worlds in the game have seven levels each (boss levels are not counted).
- The Gangplank Galleon ship in Donkey Kong Land is somehow different from its appearance in Donkey Kong Country. First of all, it now lacks the pirate crocodile skull sail on the mainmast. The mainmast looks just like the other masts, having only several yards attached to it. Second, the "crow's nest" has been moved on the mizzenmast (the back mast). Third, the forecastle deck is missing. Also, the jolly roger flag on the top of the mainmast is not shown waving anymore, and it just hangs immobile.
- Oddly enough, the sail on the mainbrace returns in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
