Rare Orb

The eight Rare Orbs.

Donkey Kong gets the magenta Rare Orb.

Rare Orbs are important collectible items that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns. They are held in the secret temple of each of the first eight worlds. The temples have to be unlocked by collecting the hidden K-O-N-G Letters in each of the other levels.

In order to get the Rare Orb, the Kongs must get past all of the obstacles and enemies in the temple. Once all eight orbs are collected, they will be able to unlock the entrance to the Golden Temple.

• Magenta Orb - Jagged Jewels
• Yellow Orb - Blast & Bounce
• Orange Orb - Perilous Passage
• Gray Orb - Treacherous Track
• Red Orb - Five Monkey Trial

Trivia

• The name "Rare Orb" may be a throwback to Rare, the company who developed the first three Donkey Kong Country games, which makes sense, since the further games often make references to the company.

• Some of the orb's colors seem to reference the theme of the world they came from. (I.e. Green=forest, Blue=beach, Grey=factory, Red=volcano, etc.)
