Grip 'n' Trip
Template:Level Grip & Trip is the twenty-fourth level in Donkey Kong Country Returns, as well as the second level in the Cave world.
This level takes place in a cave, where Donkey and Diddy Kong must ride on minecarts to progress. Unlike earlier minecart levels such as Crazy Cart, the Kongs can jump out of their carts in this level, instead of jumping with them. This way, they are able to access different minecarts throughout the level. Another main feature in this level is its many sections of a grassy, green turf that the primates can climb on. Additionally, near the end of the level, a train begins to ride on the track above the Kongs, holding a metal platform with more of the turf on it. The heroes are able to jump between the minecarts and the turf to obtain collectibles and avoid obstacles. The only enemies in this level are flying Tiki enemies, making Grip and Trip one of the only levels in the Cave world to not feature moles as enemies.
Secrets
K-O-N-G Letters
- K: After getting the first Puzzle Piece, there are more tracks on a platform. When the Kongs ride in the minecart, there is a barrel. If gone in it will shoot them to bananas and the K.
- O: Shortly after getting the third Puzzle Piece, there is grass at the top of a ceiling. The primates need to climb on the grass. There are then two platforms. One on the top and one on the bottom. The Kongs need to go on the top one, where there is some bananas and the O.
- N: After getting the fourth Puzzle Piece, there is a another platform with a train on top with grass. The Kongs again need to hang on to it. After shortly riding it, the Kongs need to drop where the N is, landing on a minecart where bananas are in front of the cart.
- G: After getting the last Puzzle Piece, the primates ride on more platforms. Eventually, they will find an enemy. They need to jump on it, and go into the barrel above the enemy. The Kongs will be shot into the background where there are two platforms with one minecart on each. On the second platform, there is the G.
Puzzle Pieces
- At the beginning of the level, there is one platform at the top and bottom with one minecart on it each. The primates need to go on the top one, where they will find bananas and a Puzzle Piece.
- Shortly after getting the K, there are more platforms with tracks. Next to one is a barrel, which will take the Kongs to a Bonus Level. If all the bananas are collected, they will get a Puzzle Piece.
- After coming out of the Bonus Level, there are more tracks. After riding some platforms, there is an enemy. The Kongs need to jump on it, where a Puzzle Piece is at the top.
- Shortly after getting the O, there is a train at the top of a platform, and a minecart on a bottom platform. The primates need to hang on to it, where eventually they get dropped to a platform. There is a plant to the left. The Kongs need to shake and then a Puzzle Piece will come out.
- After getting the N and riding on the minecart, there is a Puzzle Piece behind the bananas.
