'''Buckies''' are caterpillar-like enemies appearing in ''[[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze]]''. Buckies attack by releasing toxic fumes as they walk, and can be defeated by stomping on their head, however, jumping on their other body parts will cause damage to the Kongs. They can also be defeated with frontal attacks, but that's not really advisable, as the Kongs would also take damage for coming into contact with the toxic fumes afterwards.

Buckies[1] are caterpillar enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port found in the level Harvest Hazards. They walk around a platform, releasing trails of toxic fumes that dissolve after a few moments. Their concept artwork depicts a Bucky leaving trails of a light-blue substance, which never happens in-game. If they are on the ceiling, they occasionally attack by dropping large, poisonous bubbles that slowly descend to the ground and pop if coming into contact with it or the Kongs. Some areas feature holes from which Buckies emerge at set intervals.

Two Buckies passing by Dixie Kong in Harvest Hazards.
Dixie Kong stands in an area with two Buckies from the level, Harvest Hazards

Buckies can normally be defeated in any way, including a stomp or a roll attack on their front side. Those that hang from ceilings can only be knocked out with a barrel. If the player ground pounds next to a Bucky, the enemy lays down and gets dizzy momentarily, becoming harmless. Shooting one with a popgun likewise stuns it for a brief moment.
