Some Blue Finleys swim in straight lines, which can be either vertical or horizontal, while other members of the species follow circular paths, as seen in Deep Keep. A bump with a Blue Finley results in the enemy biting and injuring the Kongs, taking away a heart point. However, a Corkscrew move or a cane attack by Cranky Kong can defeat a Blue Finley.

There is only one time in the game when Blue Finleys can be found outside the water; that is, Rocket Rails. Here, they merely float in midair, and can be stomped on to defeat them. This way, they may also serve as improvised platforms, helping pass wide chasms.

Blue Finleys have red-colored relatives called Red Finleys, which travel faster underwater. Together, they can be compared to other pairs of submerged enemies from past Donkey Kong Country titles, such as blue and light-green Flotsams, or green and red Kocos.

Blue Finleys[1] are light-blue fish enemies and members of the Finley family in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They appear in many levels, usually those that primarily occur underwater or at seaside. Blue Finleys first appear in the first level, Mangrove Cove, as the very first enemy encountered by Donkey Kong on his adventure.

Description[edit]

Blue Finleys can be found solitary or in groups. They swim around in a variety of patterns, as shown in Deep Keep, without trying to target the Kongs. If the Kongs swim into a Blue Finley, it bites them and takes away a Heart. A Blue Finley can be defeated by either the Corkscrew move or a cane attack by Cranky Kong.

In Rocket Rails, Blue Finleys demonstrate the ability to swim in midair. The playable Kong can defeat a Blue Finley by stomping on it. Blue Finleys may also serve as improvised platforms to get across wide chasms; one of the level's Puzzle Pieces can be collected only by jumping on a Blue Finley.
