Template:Species-infobox Blue Finleys[1] are light-blue fish enemies and members of the Finley family in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They appear in many levels, usually those that primarily occur underwater or at seaside. Blue Finleys first appear in the first level, Mangrove Cove, as the very first enemy encountered by Donkey Kong on his adventure.

Description

Blue Finleys are either found solitary or in small schools. They are large and stout, and are about the height of Donkey Kong. They sport short pointy fins and give off different facial expressions that either denote angriness or restlessness.

Blue Finleys act similarly to Bitesizes from Donkey Kong Country, as they do not directly target the Kongs. Blue Finleys swim around in a pattern of either a vertical, horizontal, or even a circular path, as shown in Deep Keep. If the Kongs swim into a Blue Finley, it bites them, therefore injuring them and taking away a Heart. A Blue Finley can be defeated by either the Corkscrew move or a cane attack by Cranky Kong.

There is only one time in the game when Blue Finleys can be found outside the water; that is, Rocket Rails. Here, they merely float in midair, and can be stomped on to defeat them. This way, they may also serve as improvised platforms, helping pass wide chasms.

Blue Finleys have red-colored relatives named Red Finleys, who behave similarly but have the ability to travel underwater more quickly.
