Necky Nutmare

Revision as of 02:04, March 25, 2011 by Kaptain K. Rool (talk | contribs) (New Levels? It has been around for 11 years correct?)

Template:Level Necky Nutmare is the thirty-second level exclusively for the Game Boy Color version of Donkey Kong Country, and is absent from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance versions. This level is the fourth level located in Chimp Caverns, being situated between the levels Misty Mine and Loopy Lights.

Necky Nutmare appears to be set in a cave and is named for the numerous Mini Neckies that will spit coconuts at Donkey and Diddy Kong, as well as the normal flying Neckies that must be used to cross abysses. Due to the abundance of Mini-Neckys, the Kongs have a rather treacherous time navigating throughout the level. Aside from the Mini-Neckies and Neckies, this level does not appear to have a special "gimmick" like many of the game's levels. Gray Krushas and Armies can also be found getting in the Kongs' way in this level.

This is the final cave level in the Game Boy Color version. In the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy Advance versions, Manic Mincers is marked as the last cave level of the game.

Level Layout

When the Kongs enter this level, they must continue right throughout the damp cave and they may defeat a single Mini-Necky along the way. Afterwards, they must travel a little further and they will find a single Krusha, as well as a couple of Armies. They must then climb a few small ledges to find a large wall in their way. The Kongs must crawl under the wall and head down the area to find a rope. When the Kongs get on the rope, they must watch out for a Mini Necky and walk up to a wide abyss. In order for the Kongs to cross it, they must bounce on a Necky to grab on the rope. The rope will swing them to another Necky, who must be bounced off. When the Kongs bounce on him, they must grab onto another rope and jump to get back on the land. After that, Donkey and Diddy Kong must pass a Krusha and crawl under some walls. Afterwards, the Kongs must jump off of a ledge to reach the Star Barrel.

Halfway through the level, the Kongs must continue travelling while collect some bananas along the way until finding another abyss. The Kongs must then bounce on three large Neckies to cross the abyss. From there, the Kongs must continue going right. As they go, they must watch out for falling nuts which a Necky throws at them. Soon, they will find another abyss. The Kongs will need to use a few moving platforms to cross it, and then hop up a few small ledges, defeating some Armies. The Kongs then must cross a small abyss by bouncing on a Mini Necky. After that, they must continue advancing throughout the level while several enemies. Eventually, the Kongs will enter an area where they will find many nuts falling down on them from the above Neckies. They will need to dodge each nut and continue right to find a Krusha. After the Krusha is defeated, the Kongs must bounce off three flying Neckies to cross an abyss. Once they land in front of an Oil Drum, they will find the exit sign to go to the next level.

Bonus Level(s)

  • At the beginning of the level, the Kongs must find Armies attacking near each other for the first time. When they are at this point, they will spot a high platform above them. They must climb a ledge and jump off of the left side of it to get to this high area. Once they are up here, the Kongs must jump to a banana floating to their left. If they do so, they will land in a barrel, taking them to the level's Bonus Level. There, the Kongs must hit several rotating letters to spell out the name "Diddy". If the letters are hit out of order, the Kongs will lose the Bonus Level, but if they do it correctly, they will be awarded. Once they are done, they must exit the stage on the right.
